Google Chrome to get gamepad support

Google's Chrome browser gets support for gamepads early next year, the search engine giant has revealed.

As reported by Edge, Google exec Paul Kinlan made the announcement at Develop Liverpool yesterday, adding that support for webcams, microphones and voice chat application WebRTC is also planned.

Couple this news with Chrome's regular update cycles and support for accelerated graphics via WebGL, and Google's browser seems like a nice fit for a cloud gaming service such as Gaikai. However, Google clarified that it is not currently working on its own platform.

In other browser gaming-related news, Epic recently announced that its Unreal Engine now supports Adobe's web-based Flash Player 11.
