Resistance 3 comes with three demos

Killzone 3! inFamous 2! MotorStorm!

Upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive first-person shooter Resistance 3 comes with three demos, the BBFC has revealed.

These are a stereoscopic 3D-enabled Killzone 3 demo (and a standard one), an inFamous 2 demo and a MotorStorm: Apocalypse demo.

Meanwhile, Resistance 3 has around 30 minutes of FMV.

It was given an 18 rating with no cuts.

Resistance 3, remember, is the first game to use Sony's PSN Pass, announced this week.

3 games you can already download. Not gonna be a selling point for most people...
  • captain_Carl #3 11 months ago

it's not supposed to be a selling point. It's so people who aren't connected to PSN can play the demos and hopefully buy the games.

Seems like a good idea to me, as long as they aren't cutting things from the game to make up the disk space required for the demos.

    @slider

Why on earth would you think its supposed to be a selling point. Its just free advertising for there older titles.

Resistance 3 obviously doesn't use all of the space on the Blu-ray disc then? :p

It's a good idea I guess if the space is there as it allows those less fortunate than ourselves to try three games they might not otherwise have been able to. I doubt we'll be seeing this idea used any time soon on the Xbox 360 though... ;)

This is the worst news story ever. Why would anyone care about this?

In other news, the special edition of Mass Effect 3 contains a little bag of silicone chips with 'do not eat' written on it.

How on earth is this news?

Uncharted 3 demo would be news. Old games are not news.

Were the other Resistance games rated 18.

I hope this and Ratchet aren't the last exclusives from insomniac.

Both Killzone 3 and Motorstorm Apocalypse are fantastic games. I finally got all the online related trophies last night and just got Apocalypse yesterday and it's brilliant fun. Not as hard as the previouss two games which is welcome as the difficulty could be very frustrating at times, but by far the best IMO. It's a massive shame that it had no real marketing whatsoever due to the Japan tragedy and that impacted sales massively. I throughly reccomend both if your a fan of tactical shooters or the old style Burnout racing games.

Because this game sucks and you probably want to look for other games as soon as you realize that money is wasted on it.. Sony knows it, so they are actually helping the buyers.. Good on them.
  • slider271 #13 11 months ago

Fair enough, good points there :) I'd like a brand new demo as well though.

Reminds me of the PS1 days a bit.

I wonder if the Spyro 2 demo on CTR works with the PSN version.

90mins of cutscenes? Ugh. They were a fucking nuisance in Killzone 3 and I don't want to play another game where I'm interrupted every five minutes by a stupid cinematic which wrestles away control over and over again.

    Sod that lark.
  • Triggerhappytel #16 11 months ago

I agree with CaptainQuint - KZ3 was plagued by its 70-odd minutes of cutscenes and I hope at least R3 has better pacing and structure. You couldn't walk six fucking feet in KZ3 without being interrupted by a needless cutscene.

So the once cool franchise now has a collection of more so so game demos. Soon all Sony's getting lamer games to be on one disc with a PSN pass needed for each how crap can it get . Sony lose our details , use older games to market new games and then decide to screw family households and its customers for cash just when we think we have amnesia. Well looks like i'll be buying 3 copies of R3 when it hits £20 rather than pay £64 for Mrs, kids and me to play on one copy.

Or people who can connect to PSN but haven't bothered to play these can do so easily. Honestly I'm amazed every game doesn't do this on PS3 it's pretty easy upselling at no cost and pretty customer friendly too.

I've often wondered why not more publishers do this. :-/
Use eventual extra bluray-space to put demos, concept art or artwork, trailers, interview with devs of the other titles in their portofolio on the disk. Build up the brand of their games. :)
The only downside might be some more pressing time.. :)

    Strange that they didn't put a Ratchet & Clank-demo there tough. :-/

An 18 rating? Wow a must buy then, I mean I've seen games score a perfect 10 but an 18....WOW ;)
