The next Wake is not Alan Wake 2
Remedy confirms next instalment.
Remedy Entertainment has confirmed to Eurogamer that "yes, more [Alan] Wake is coming!" But the Finnish developer said the new game won't be Alan Wake 2.
"Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC," Remedy's head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen told Eurogamer.
"The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually show you."
Hakkinen revealed that "a slice" of the Remedy team has been working on this new game for "the last months".
"It's something that'll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this instalment will also give an opportunity for players who aren't familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board," he added.
"We can't wait to show you more, bear with us. Release dates, platforms and pricing are unconfirmed as of yet, but Fall 2011 is probably a good guess."
Could the next Alan Wake game be for Kinect?
Hakkinen was responding to a news story yesterday based on an artist's LinkedIn profile mentioning the project Alan Wake 2.
"This has come in a little unexpected as we weren't expecting to be talking about this just yet," shrugged Hakkinen, referring to the leak. "On the flip side, it's great to see that there is interest out there - it really would seem Alan Wake is very close to the hearts of the fans out there, and to ours too.
"It is of course a shame that this news leaked before our official announcements went out which will include the visuals and information to support it."
Hakkinen stopped short of confirming an E3 reveal for the new game, but there are few platforms more prominent to announce a game than at the huge June show.

I would also fear that this would sell poorly and have the potential to prematurely kill-off the franchise and that we may never see the sequel so many of us want....

Hmm. I'm guessing that it will be some sort of extended/special edition with more content. Also, I bet that it will also be released on PC, as the plural in the word "platforms" seems to imply.

Sorry my wallet isn't suited to the intimacy of this game Remedy besides I can't reach Steam from the sofa.

This E3 is going to be very interesting, MS have the chance to have another good E3 (like the one before last), but if they Kinectify everything and have another bad one (like last yr) I for one will be extremely dissapointed.

Can you rotate the analogue sticks in time to keep his bumcheeks in place to hold back a rogue turd while still maintaining a forward shuffle? Will you manage to slink past the manager in McDonald's to park your fudge without buying anything?
Look out, Alan! There's a public toilet across the road, and there's a bus coming. Your turtle's head meter is almost full, you'll have to time it just right to get across without shitting your pants, getting run over or scurrying to fast and losing control of your bottom.

Edit: what a bargain that Zavvi are selling it for only £49.99. Well done boys. No point getting it for £8 anywhere else in the world then.
Edit2: negged by the genius who bought it from Zavvi.

Seems highly presumptuous to assume it's a Kinect title, as he doesn't even hint at that.
