Get 3 PlayStation Plus months for free

Sony offers 15 months for price of 12.

Sony has launched a new PlayStation Plus offer that allows subscribers to get 15 months for the price of 12.

Become a member before 3rd May and you'll nab the deal.

Existing members can sign-up at the lower price, too. A new subscription service means if you renew your membership before it expires, your new cheaper member ship will begin as soon as it ends.

Sony described April as PlayStation Plus' "biggest month".

"This month sees Plus members getting a monthly package worth £67 / €84 – that's a saving equivalent to almost a two year membership, all in just one festive month," the PlayStation 3 manufacturer said.

PlayStation Plus launched in June last year. It costs £39.99 annually - or £11.99 for 90 days.

    I want that Infamous 2 beta, but as I understand it, I'm not guaranteed to get a code if I sign up for PS+?
  • el_pollo_diablo #3 1 year ago

    Call me a pedant (don't) but I think there's a difference between getting 3 months for free and 15 months for price of 12.
  • Spence1115 #4 1 year ago

    This offers been on for weeks, hasn't it?
  • Rack #5 1 year ago

    @el_pollo_diablo. Agreed. There's a huge difference if you weren't going to buy a years worth in the first place.

    This is fairly old news. PSN has had this offer since 6th April.
  • emhaslam92 #7 1 year ago

    Only because it's going to be down for 3 months.

    Good news. I was wandering about this.

    I don't pay for it and don't at all feel aggrieved! Hope that helps.

    Yay, 3 week old news.
  • Xardan #11 1 year ago

    How is this even news at all? I'ts more like advertising.
  • Ferral #12 1 year ago

    Been thinking about plus for a few months now but most the time it is just a selection of the minis, avatars, themes, a few PSOne games and slightly reduced prices on titles that are about a year old.

    Bit unsure in all honesty whether it is actually worth it.
  • Ryze #13 1 year ago

  • rprince #14 1 year ago

    This seems to be a rolling offer on PS Plus. Why don't they just make £39.99 the price for 15 months permanently?
  • patch #15 1 year ago

    @EddieMink - Sorry, it's impossible to give an unbiased opinion :)

    I signed up last week and got Sonic 2 and the Killzone 3 map pack free. This week I've had Pain free. Plus you get a good few discounts and early demos. I've seen some people say there's over £600 worth of discounts & free stuff each year, I'd estimate I'm going to break even or better from the stuff I'd actually want to have.

    I won't add my biased angle cause I'll get shot down for being a fanboy :D
  • Haerger #16 1 year ago

    I joined PSN+ last month and I already saved £30!
  • urbanphilosopher #17 1 year ago

    @Eddie

    PS+ is basically a grab-bag gamble. You get a lot more content than you otherwise would for your money, but you don't get to control what that content is; it's the luck of the draw whether you end up with anything you actually like.
    For myself I took the dive this month to take advantage of the offer; thus far I've been satisfied but not impressed.
  • Gromit #18 1 year ago

    @Eddie

    I am more than happy with the service. In my opinion, the free dynamic themes they give each month cover the cost alone. Try the 3 month option first to see how you get on. It works out at £1 per week, and to me, the content you get is well worth it. Especially with the upcoming betas for Uncharted 3 & Infamous, plus all the discounts + "free" games and early demos they give you, it's incredibly good value.

    Check the ps store to see if the things currently on offer appeal to you.

    Can i ask a quick Q as i'm v tempted. All the free mini games and things, do we get to download them again after the sub to PS+ has expired. I know there's the normal 5x download limit, but for the free things is it a case of, if your no longer PS+ you're no longer eligible to download again
  • Gromit #20 1 year ago

    @ grimlocksbrain
    Exactly
  • kingcrowbar #21 1 year ago

    This is how I understand it to work.

    Freebies (a.k.a. Rentals) you keep until subscription expires. (Minis, PSOne, PSN games such as Sam and Max, Stacking etc..)
    Freebies reactivate upon re-subscribing.
    Freebies from before you subscribe are unavailable to you.

    Free DLC you keep forever (Killzone 2 and 3 map packs, Fallout 3 DLC).
    Paid for stuff with PSN+ discounts you keep forever.
  • Toothball #22 1 year ago

    I imagine I'll sign up for PS+ at some point, although it would probably help if I had a PS3 which I plan to get eventually. I'm prone to buying games for a console before I buy the console itself so the initial expense is spread out more, so I might look into this offer on that basis. Maybe not just yet though.

    "How is this news?"

    Presumably because if you're a gamer, and hadn't been aware of this offer (regardless of it's merits or lack thereof), it would be news to you.

    Not everyone spends all day on the net or on the PSN/XBLA, and not everyone seems to be so rabidly fucking irritable as EG readers.

    And now I've just gone and posted in a rabidly fucking irritable fashion. It's INFECTIOUS.

    Meh.
  • tomjoadsghost #25 1 year ago

    Of course its an advert, its kind of like empire magazine having a loveFILM trial listed as latest movie news, its not bad or wrong or unethical but its not 'news'.

    Its kind of ironic that hexadode got negged for leaping on the commerce bandwagon though.
  • callum9999 #26 1 year ago

    "Its technically a pay to rent service" - As opposed to all the rent for free services?

    If people want to pay to use a rental service (with added bonuses) that works out less than £3 a month, then how exactly are they "suckers"?

    Why haven't Eurogamer reported that the PSN is currently down in Europe ? I've not been able to sign in all week yet still able to access the internet on it so I know it's not my router, settings etc...
    Why would I pay for an online service that you can't bloody access half of the time !!!!
    Love the message that comes up, have you tried this ? have you tried that ? like its your fault you can't sign in.
    Why can't they just be honest and say "sorry PSN is down cos we are useless bastards who have yet to grasp an online network even though they've been around for fucking millennia (slight exaggeration)".
    Just got Op Flash Red River and I would like to play with real people rather than the dumb team AI.

    Ignore the first line, I've just seen that EG have posted a story regarding PSN being down. Present my words on a plate EG and I will scoff them into my ranting, speaks too soon, stupid fucking mouth !
    PSN is as stable as a pensioner with parkinsons holding a plate of jelly whilst trying to ride a unicyle.

    @kingcrowbar

    "Free DLC you keep forever (Killzone 2 and 3 map packs, Fallout 3 DLC)."

    That part is wrong but the other parts of your comment are correct.

    @ obidanshinobi

    Some people have not been able to connect to the PSN (not including today) but the PSN has been up the majority of PS3/PSP owners. I know of a few people who have had issues connecting since last Friday, but I've not had any of those problems.

    The PSN had been up and running flawlessly until this morning, but I'm not going to cry just because there is an unknown problem. I don't remember there being a spate of suicides over Xmas 2007 when XBL (paid for service) was offline for over a week.
  • kingcrowbar #30 1 year ago

    @chessboxer

    Wrong how? Prices and Content | PlayStation Plus Explained
    Where is the expiration date for the DLC? On my PS3 there is only expiration dates on stuff like minis, PSOne games, PSN games.
  • chessboxer #31 1 year ago

    @kingcrowbar

    That was a miscommunication by Sony which they corrected on the US/EU Blog shortly after PS+ launched. Eurogamer covered the story when it broke last year.

    It should also be noted that none of the free DLC contains the text "yours to keep forever" in the description when you view it on the store, however that text appears on other items like free avatars, themes or extended discounts (like Penny Arcade Adventures Episodes 1 & 2, available for £3 to PS+ members).
  • KrazyFace #32 1 year ago

    @EddieMink; I've just this week become a plus member (typical = no PSN) after eyeing up the service for a while now, and although I've let some really good deals pass me by, it was for a much stranger reason I became a member...

    After my trusty old PS3 dying and getting a replcacement from sony (thankfully for free), I kept my old 250GB HDD to put in my new machine, which didn't quite work but to cut a looooong story short, I noticed that there was a small amount of online storage you get with being a plus member, so I went for the trial 3 month thing in case anything should happen to my replecement model - it's an old phat 60GBer. This will ensure all my game saves stay safe this time. The other up-shot to being with plus (and my second reason for joining) is the automatic updates, so the next time I put in an old game I've not played for months, I don't have to deal with 5 or 6 "update bars" before I get to play.

    That's what I'm paying my £4 a month for anyways, plus all the free stuff obviously!
  • KrazyFace #33 1 year ago

    I'm sorry, why did I just get negged!? Did I not explain myself enough? Was someone upset that I didn't tell you the WHOLE looooong story!? Seriously, why the neg!?

    Edit: It's cool, I just figured it out. LOL, I know who you are and boy was that a weird thing to do!!!

    It's really good value - made better by the offer. Some of the stuff you keep, some is 'rented' and other promotions (discounts on purchased DLC, advance demos, inclusion in betas) are all worthy of the price of one retail game for the entire year as far as I'm concerned. But if you don't think so, we all have options.. ..
  • AVisualEpiphany #35 1 year ago

    Why is an advert being disguised as news? I have now seen a number of different sites with this exact same "news story" posted
  • sizeofyou #36 1 year ago

    Why is this more of an advert than a listing of what's on PSN or Xbox Live every week? Why is this more of an advert than any other bit of news about a specific game? It's an offer that some readers may be interested in. The user has a choice to buy a particular game in the same way that the same user has a choice to be a Plus member. The whole of Eurogamer is one big 'advert', but we're all intelligent enough to read or not read the bits that interest us.
