Armored Core V confirmed for 2012

Namco talks-up From Software partnership.

The latest entry in From Software's mech scrapping series, Armored Core, is heading to Europe and the US next year thanks to a new partnership between the studio and publisher Namco Bandai.

Armored Core V promises to give the franchise – which started out on the PSone way back in 1997 - something of a reboot. Namco is pledging "more content than the previous games, a completely new atmosphere, and a robust offline mode."

In addition, online multiplayer has been revamped to focus on massive team-based battles on a global scale. You can expect the mechs to be slightly smaller in scale than in earlier outings, to allow greater gameplay focus on tactics rather than plain brute force.

We've reached out Namco to find out if it has any plans to reinstate the missing 'u' in the game's title when it arrives on these shore at some point in 2012, for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This is the second prong of the new Namco/From collaboration; the other being the just-announced Dark Souls.

"The gaming experiences that FromSoftware deliver are uncompromising and world-class, leaving legions of committed fans in their wake," said Namco Bandai European top dog Shusuke Takahara of the deal.

"We will use all the resources at our disposal to ensure these two titles energise gamers worldwide and reach the major audiences they deserve."

From Software boss Eiichi Nakajima seems pretty pumped about the new partnership too.

"Combining the development power of From Software with Namco Bandai Games' global publishing expertise will greatly benefit our upcoming projects," he said.

"We look forward to a successful partnership and delivering new revolutionary titles for gamers around the world."
