A gem from Treasure.

Bonkers scrolling shooter Bangai-O is being remade for Xbox Live Arcade under the name Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury.

The game's due out this autumn and is being developed by Bangai-O inventor Treasure.

Missile Fury has got, out of necessity, thousands of missiles. There are over 100 levels, too, plus a level editor to make-your-own and share them with friends.

We missed this announcement the other day, so apologies if you already knew.

The DS version (Bangai-O Spirits) was flippin' awesome so I'm totally up for this.

Weird thing was the slowdown and frame rate stuttering when things got mental (I thought) added to the experience, so I can't imagine how a silky smooth version on XBLA will play.

Great news. Bangai-O is an absolute classic. It's almost a puzzle game / shooter hybrid with the strategy element to the game. This should look sensational in HD with room for a lot more missiles on screen than even the DC version.

XBLA is out of control. I am spending more money on XBLA than on full priced boxed games these days.

Bangai-O is one of my favourite games ever. Awesome news.

I played Bangai-O Spirits to death, twice. Can't wait for this...
@Bowlby: In it's most basic description - play as a flying robot, fire hundreds of missiles in one shot, collect fruit amongst the carnage for points. It's brilliantly over the top, you should definately try this one out.

I still have my DC version and still play it .... Can't wait to get my paws on this to see all the bullet-based mayhem in glorious HD

Tried playing this on the DS. Desperately wanted to like it, but couldn't. No idea what was going on, it seemed incredibly difficult and... yeah, it didn't really tell you what to do or anything. The tutorial was balls. Hope this turns out to be better!

Asphaltcowboy, I had exactly the same problem, I just stared at the tutorials for like an hour and didn't have a clue what was going on. I'm sure it's awesome and I desperately wanted to like it but I just couldn't work out what the fuck I was supposed to do

Awesome! There is just nothing that compares to this in terms of gameplay - it's just incredibly unique. Brilliant fun on the DS, let's see how this does on the big screen (as I haven't played the N64 or Dreamcast versions)

... but Cave were told to shove it because of a potential scolling schump overload. instead, we have to fork out full price on Japanese full retail imports, as well as Japanese 360s to play them on.

It's great that Bangai-O is coming, but fuck off with the hypocrisy MS.
