Mass Effect 2 Shadow Broker DLC dated

Liara T'Soni joins the party.

The next episode of Mass Effect 2 downloadable content, The Lair of the Shadow Broker, will be released on the PC and Xbox 360 on 7th September.

It'll cost 800 BioWare or Microsoft Points (£6.85 / €9.60).

The Lair of the Shadow Broker adds Mass Effect 1 starlet Liara T'Soni as a party member.

She's after the mysterious Shadow Broker, and the man he kidnapped. The DLC will take you to the "luxurious heights of Illium" and the Shadow Broker's lair.

There's also new research, five new Achievements, and the chance to continue a relationship with the Liara from the first game.

New screens are below.

This must be the last one before ME3 comes out :[

I think I have 800 bioware points left too.

"chance to continue a relationship with the Liara".............what ?.........oh, ME2 is getting horny...............lol

  • deadmonkeyuk #3 2 years ago

800 points is more than previous DLC, so hopefully this will be a good amount of content. Looking forward to it.
  • Dr.Frappers #4 2 years ago

Hoping this will be bigger and better than Overlord and Kasumi. With a bit of luck this will be the start of the DLC that preludes ME3.
  • mikew1985 #5 2 years ago

Ohh interesting, liaras story and role on me2 was quite interesting. Sounds like this will flesh things out a bit more. Most welcome.
  • Vortex808 #6 2 years ago

Really looking forward to this, especially if it has some more plot exposition. Kasumi's was ok, but i didn't get overlord as i don't fancy the vehicle bits. This should cover the week before reach is released!
  • pzykozis #7 2 years ago

Hmm I wonder if she'll get disappointed that Shepherd forgot all about her and now Shepherd has done his damndest to impregnate half the galaxy...

Oh well, should be a fun DLC, if it's of equal quality as Kasumi's I'll be happy.

Can't wait for this, although I am a little surprised that the illusive and mysterious Shadow Broker that Liara has been chasing for ages is just hiding on Illium. Then again she didn't notice her aide was a spy either...

Now, how about some Yeoman Kelly DLC?
  • BorkWork #9 2 years ago

I'd like to see a addon, not only these thin 1hour dlc's they keep selling.. And get rid of that Bioware points crap..
  • Quint2020 #10 2 years ago

Ooooh a bit of ME DLC I'm actually interested in, I may get this, I'm not sure Liara will want to rekindle our flame from the last game though considering I cheated on her with the bodacious Cerberus lady...
  • icematt12 #11 2 years ago

Michael Gamble, Associate Producer, says "This is our biggest DLC yet, period". I have big hopes after BDtS for the first. Bioware's forums also mentions the Shadow Broker intel centre from Chris Priestly, which does sound like you get yourself a little base on Illium. Not surprising, you can get a home from the Pinnacle Station DLC which I thought was a nice addition.

Here's hoping you get some DLC for Ash/Kaidan at some point.

Ash/Kaiden DLC will be tricky to write considering you may have lost one or both of them in the first game.
  • metalangel #13 2 years ago

Still waiting for a GoTY edition. I'm very patient.
  • Xardan #14 2 years ago

800 points yet they cant include a weapons pack with it?
  • udat #15 2 years ago

Hmm, interesting... I ditched Liara for Tali in ME2 as Liara kinda annoyed me. I wonder if I will regret that after palying this :)
  • icematt12 #16 2 years ago

To my knowledge, you pick which human dies and Wrex is the only other squadmember that can die. They could do what they do with the full game, record the voices of the two characters using the same lines with Shepard just changing the name said.

To me, 800 points is worth it for more Liara and the possibility of the joining of mind and nervous system with her again. Then there's the extra stuff. I am starting to think of a level cap increase now though.

800 points rather than 560 points like the previous DLC instalments. Does this mean it will be 90 minutes long rather than an hour?
  • Bulbatron #18 2 years ago

I've barely touched Mass Effect 2 since I finished it the first time soon after release, but I've continued to grab the DLC as it arrives, so I've got loads of stuff to do when I do a second playthrough!
  • Raiftel #19 2 years ago

    Bulbatron:

In the same boat. Can't wait for my second playthrough with the Hover-Tank, Kasumi, Overlord and this and all the new weapons.

I'm just plugging away as a Fem-Shep Biotic in Mass Effect 1 creating a weird alterna-reality for my second playthrough. It's going to be hard giving Udina supreme command of the universe and letting Wrex die.
  • RealityCheque #20 2 years ago

Hurrah! My Fem-Shep was getting frustrated with the lack of real action from Kelly as she's a good lady so she's not boned anyone else!

I think that in this DLC the Shadow Broker will escape at the end, or turn out to be a Reaper acting through indoctrinated puppets. The Shadow Broker is too much of an important figure in Mass Effect lore to kill him off in DLC that only a minor percentage of Mass Effect fans will play.
  • irve77 #22 2 years ago

Mass effect 2 DLC = wasted money

    doubt this will change that
  • Monkey_Puncher #23 2 years ago

I was going to finally get around to picking this up the other week, but I think I'm gonna hold out for a bit longer for a Game of the Year edition so I don't have to fork out for all DLC.

Only buying this if I get to shag Liara again, maybe with Miranda on the side.

Don't really care for the pointless fetch/shooting quests. They're side missions at best if they have to keep the real story telling for ME3.

"the chance to continue a relationship with the Liara from the first game."

Excellent, my Mrs Shepherd will be pleased!
  • Sunyavadin #27 2 years ago

    ABOUT EFFING TIME, BIOWARE!
  • dingo75 #28 2 years ago

Hm ok still not buying ME2.
As someone else said: GOTY Edition with all content please.
  • Scimarad #29 2 years ago

I'm not sure about the chance to continue the relationship, I was enjoying being moody and hurt thanks very much!
  • Moribundman #30 2 years ago

It doesn't add her to the party, but from the look of it she does accompany you and may stick around on your ship after you've done her missions.
  • Bluetooth #31 2 years ago

Ahhh Liara, we had some really good times together *wink wink*

Ashley was a xenophobic bitch, I rejected her racist advances.
  • mushroomyakuza #32 2 years ago

So if we already boned Tali, does that rule out picking up where we left off with Liara? I hope not.

Also, given how much each piece of DLC is, I'm gonna be a bit pissed if they do make a GOTT edition, which will obviously reduce the costs substantially. Bloody DLC.
  • pinochet_cz #33 2 years ago

    avatar porn reinvented...

I don't trust them. DLC for ME sucked every time I tried, so I will wait for some review now. Only DLC worth its money from Bioware was Dragon Age Leliana Song.
  • Xardan #34 1 year ago

Alot of people like to point out that they are playing as a female shepard for some reason. Why is that?
