BFBC2 Ultimate Edition spotted

Comes with Battlefield 1943.

An Ultimate Edition of shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be released in the UK on 3rd September, according to online retailers.

It includes brilliant downloadable game Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 2's Onslaught mode, and limited edition unlocks and VIP downloads.

The US version of the Ultimate Edition was spotted by eagle-eyed posters on forum Neogaf.

It's since popped up on UK retailers, including ShopTo.net.

Bad Company 2, created by DICE, was released earlier this year and Eurogamer liked it very much.

We liked Onslaught mode very much, too.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Anyone who hasn't tried it yet would do well to get this version.

    NEW MAPS PLEASE!!!!

    Seriously.

This is listed as 360, PS3 and PC - is this right?

1943 was XBLA and PSN, this would be the first time it had been on PC, as far as I know, and PC owners would be demanding it as a separate download for those of us who've already got the main game.

My money's on console only :(

Really don't understand why they aren't releasing map packs: I'd happily pay £10 for, say, three completely new maps. BFBC2 is just obscenely good value - 52 hours in and still going strong :D

Are people still playing 1943? I loved playing it for a while but I don't think I've switched it on since BF:BC2 came along. New maps for both/either would be nice.

1943 is still very much alive and kicking, and remains a great game. The downside for me is the appalling mic support (at least on the PS3), which makes playing with buddies more or less pointless considering we could be playing BC2 which - barring the occasional crash - has excellent squad support.

Edit: Is it just me, though, that only really finds one class - the Rifleman - worth playing in 1943. I'm so used to switching it up, in TF2, or BC2, that I find my love for that mid-range Garand to be bordering on the abhorrent. But the machine gun just isn't anywhere near as fun to use! :(

Yeah, I'm a rifleman through and through as well. I'm on level 49 and still haven't picked up all the sniper or M1A1 insignias.

I played a round of 1943 the other night, and was pleasantly surprised to find a full game to join straight away. It is a great game.

The new BC2 levels that you are craving yorkshieman are unfortunately not going to come. DICE community manager tweeted as much the other day. Best thing is to look forward to BC Vietman later this year, and start saving your pennies (it is rumoured to be a full price download).

They have already said there will be no more BF 1943 maps, and they didn't release extra maps for the first Bad Company so who knows what they will do with Bad Co 2?

Wouldn't surprise me once Battlefield 3 has been out for a while, if they release a sequel/something along the lines of 1943. Maybe 1944?

See, I was tempted to get 1943 when it was 800 MS points (IIRC). I decided that since it was a month before BC2 came out, it would only be a month's worth of fun as everyone would immediately jump onto BC2 and these games are most fun with lots of people.
  • BiffTanner #9 2 years ago

Carrot, full priced as in 1200 points you mean or even higher than that like 2400?
I do hope they bring out a full WW2 one in the future as the planes work well on consoles as they go slow enough to control easily, whereas jets I think may be harder if they are included with BF 3 as they were hard to control well enough in frontlines.

Sounds like great value for money, and there's already a well established online comunity. Great for late adopters.

@enfilade, I mainly play as the Scout. All the time on Guadalcanal, mainly on Iwo Jima, but the quite a lot of mixing it up with Rifleman on Wake Island.

Fucking snipers! We need to capture the fucking spawn points what are you doing sitting on a hill miles away taking random potshots???

I'd love more maps for BFBC2 and to be honest, I think that the VIP thing was a bit misleading. However, I get the feeling that Dice are busy working on the BFBC2: Vietnam DLC, which will hopefully contain plenty of new maps.

You liked Onslaught very much? 6/10 is very much? Now I know review scores don't mean everything, but as far as I am aware, a game that is a 6/10 isn't usually worth playing.

@Gromit-'They have already said there will be no more BF 1943 maps, and they didn't release extra maps for the first Bad Company so who knows what they will do with Bad Co 2? '

er...they did release new maps for the first Bad Company, and they were free as well,in fact all the updates for that game was free(adding Conquest to the online game mode)

the first 4 maps they released were different versions of some of the maps already available(like they are doing now with VIP maps)....but the second 4 maps were entirely new and lifted from the single player campaign

    Battlefield camp on a hillside.
  • MerricK #17 2 years ago

I'd love it if they'd fix the bugs that make it unplayable for some, me!! And add new maps instead of nelsons bay bring added to different play list. Love the game. Hate the support. Their working on moh mp, 'nam and bf3 just focus on supporting bfbc2 for a lil longer. Since when have they been owned by activision and have to have their hands in every cookie pot?

@ BiffTanner - I can't find the thread I was reading any more, but the rumour/speculation on the EA BC2 boards was that the Vietnam mode will be price comparable to the Dragon Age expansion - which launched @ $40 if I am not mistaken.

This sounds very expensive for DLC imho, so I hope that there is no truth in it. I'm still loving BC2, so am quite happy to shell out some cash for an expansion pack, so long as there is plenty of content and it does not have a ridiculous price point. Anything under £15 and I will be there on day one - although under £10 would be even sweeter ;)

There are going to be four maps apparently, with a whole new set of weapons and vehicles.........which I hope will have in vehicle music (the biggest thing I miss from BC1)

Hopefully there will be some more BC Vietnam news at Gamescom later this week.......
  • BiffTanner #19 2 years ago

If there are only 4 maps then anything over £15 is ridiculous really. I think the classic vietnam in game music will be there, at least the official trailer for it was pointing to it as you heard the music as the chopper passed over.
I don't mind paying more as long as its justified content wise, suprised if it is quite a substantial dlc why they dont just release it on its own as a bigger download as it has to include the BC2 engine over XBL/PSN as it would allow increased sales.

    @metallicorphan

I stand corrected. I had totally forgotten about the golf course etc coming later.

I know the conquest mode wasn't ready in time for release. I think the whole VIP thing is just a con to mask the fact they didn't fully finish all maps for all modes in time for release this time. Hopefully some new maps will come along for Bad Co 2 at a reasonable price to make up for it.
