Nintendo will launch a new iteration of the DS by the end of the year, according to the Nikkei business daily (as reported by Reuters).

Apparently the new DS will include a music player feature, and you'll be able to use it to take pictures. It is expected to cost less than JPY 20,000 (GBP 105 / EUR 130) - so perhaps a bit more than the current DS, which retails for JPY 16,800.

Nintendo has issued a "no comment" response to the report, stating, "We are always developing new products. However, since nothing has been announced officially, we are unable to comment at this time."

That press conference Nintendo is hosting this Thursday could be interesting.
