Deus Ex using Legend engine

That piece just referenced two third person titles in relation to Deus Ex. Hope that isn't a sign of things to come.

Don't be an idiot aldo, you know what he's talking about. Some publishers will bastardize good franchises and throw any old rubbish out the door in the name of profit. Others will ensure their developers produce quality games and reap the benefits. We know they are in it for the money, it's the morals and ethics he's opposed to, as should all gamers.

Isn't there a company doing something similar to this but with Valve's counterstrike? I'll have a dig around.

Thought so: http://www.tournament.com/

They're using CS:S, DoD:S and HL2 Deathmatch. You've got to supply the games though.

Considering how much gameplay was removed between Morrowind and Oblivion, the thought of an Oblivion lite doesn't fill me with confidence.

HL2: Episode 2 in winter

Xune

The Source engine is supposedly designed so that as aspects of it become outdated they can be replaced without having to redo everything else. It allows Valve to, for example, incorporate DX10 into Source as they did with HDR and 64bit processing. However with Valve's seeming inability to get anything done in a reasonable time frame, I'm not sure how much that will help them.

You know things have gone to shit when they have to wheel out Doug "Out-by-30th-Sept-03" Lombardi though.

It's possible Shuri but if that's the case it makes a nonsense of Valves split from Vivendi.

Valve brought in the team from narbacular drop to develop Portal. TF2 has been in development for years now. So in all honesty what the hell is taking so long to produce Episode 2?

If the delay is down to the effort needed to port the content, that's just a big slap in the face to PC users and makes Steam redundant.

Demo, D E M O. They're supposed to demonstrate the game and be available for impulsive aquisition. What the hell is impulsive about 1.2Gb's?

Being the pesimist that I am, I can see this game being ruined by the scourge of all online games, cheating.

I honestly hope it doesn't happen. Perhaps the pay-to-play aspect will turn off these kind of people, but you never know, there are some pretty sad people online.

Wetrix was brilliant so I hope these guys do well!

Football Manager 2007

I think that you'll find, as in real life, if you do the same thing day in day out the opposition will twig on and find weaknesses in your formation and strategy.

If there was one winning formation and strategy football would not be the game it is.

Speedball, Chaos Engine return

Xune

FINALLY!

I remember something about the Bitmap Brothers making a remake of Speedball some years ago but then they headed towards the RTS genre, failing spectacularly with Z: Steel Soldiers and World War II: Frontline Command. Idiots.

Hopefully these new guys are going to be remaking based on the Amiga versions. They were by far the superior itterations.

Has the state of gaming really got to the point where the games we play to escape reality are based on the mundanities of real life? This is depressing on so many levels.

So it stops the stuttering by preventing you from even launching the games? Genius! AMD obviously went to the "Baldrick School Of Cunning Plans".

Shadowgrounds

Got the demo through Steam a month ago. It was alright but inexplicably slowed down at the boss battle. It was pretty average so I'm not surprised the full package came in at 6/10.

"Now all we need is for someone to remake Chaos Engine for 2007 and the circle of retrospection will be complete."

While they're at it these hypothetical devs could redo Speedball 2. I'd never have to buy another game again!

I think the crowning glory would be for Microsoft to sign this title up as a Vista exclusive despite it not using DX10, just as they've done with Alan Wake.

Since I only found out about this game a few weeks ago I'm not terribly bothered about the delay. The game does look good, but I think they need to sack their PR guys, no one seems to care it exists.

Alan Wake to be 360 exclusive?

Xune

Oblivion hey? Well we have the gimped shadowing, removal of armor types, removal of multiple weapon types, idiot proof "follow me" arrow in the HUD, HUD the size of Gabe Newell's ass. To name but a few flaws. All to be console friendly.

The massive redeaming feature of Oblivion is the powerful construction set and general modability that allows PC users to remove all this console crap. Since Alan Wake is going to have to cater to joypad wielding couch commandos you can expect a far inferior game than if it were a PC to 360 port.
