Worth noting that this appears to be Click and Collect ONLY; and none of the stores suitably near the two postcodes I've tried so far have the stock to make the transaction possible.

In January 2014 DeepMind was acquired by Google for a reported 400 million (approximately $625 million), where Hassabis is now Vice President of Engineering leading their general AI projects."

I don't think Jeffers knows quite how to use "aberrant". The playtime, if this is true, is aberrant - being outside the the accepted 'standard' - so he may wish to rephrase his inevitably hard hitting interrogation of Kojima and co.

Pedant, yes. But one must have standards.

Strike Suit Zero review

TravisTouchdown

Really sad to see developers on here taking a poor review personally and, in an interesting trend I presume we'll see more of this year and beyond, people who backed the Kickstarter feeling compelled to vehemently defend something which, in the grand scheme of things, just a guy writing for Eurogamer didn't like.

It's okay that he didn't, folks - and it's okay that you do, too. No need for the upset.

On the subject of Kid Icarus' sales: On Saturday, you couldn't buy it in Guildford. GAME obviously haven't got it; HMV had received *6* copies the day before, which were of course gone; and even a schlep to the Comet / PC World retail park yielded nothing (perhaps not unexpectedly).

It's all well and good saying GAME's demise won't change anything, but I was determined to buy the thing, having neglected to order online already, and I simply couldn't. That can't be good.

3DS Circle Pad Pro Review

TravisTouchdown

"Attempts to augment the functionality of portable consoles have proven largely unsuccessful in the past (remember the D-pad cross attachment that came with the Neo Geo Pocket Color port of Pac-Man? Didn't think so)."

A poor example that smacks of wanting to appear coolly knowledgable. That little ring served its purpose splendidly - which was to limit the travel of the NGPC's wonderful stick to the four directions appropriate to Pac-Man. I still have mine; can I join your club?

A much better example would have been any one of the appalling clip-on screen magnifiers / speakers for the GB, GBA, Game Gear etc.

I don't know why I was so annoyed by that. Sorry.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

TravisTouchdown

@Fox89

Thing is, we're talking about games - there is no 'Godfather' equivalent. The best summer blockbuster is the best that 'we' do.

Not that it matters. As someone said earlier, Parkin's a bit of a tit - he once told a game dev conference audience not to expect good reviews unless the reviewers were 'involved' in the story of the game's development. I presume he's not been on the blower to Naughty Dog every day for the last couple of years, and feels like he needs to teach them a lesson, that's all.

"Just shows that you shouldn't judge all games by a review. I think a lot of reviewers have really missed the ball on this one, trying to be fashionably against the game for some reason."

Spot on. And I must admit, I didn't expect a great deal from it, given the publisher in particular - not one that any reviewers feel compelled to cosy up to, evidently. I don't think it's quite as bad as Edge's 6/10 for GTA3 - which they atempted to retract and award an 8, claiming a misprint, once the backlash hit - but there are certainly parallels...
