Hearthstone's Whispers of the Old Gods rewrites the game with a single card

Hantheman

It's good for new players. The decks build themselves, just put in as many C'tun minions as possible and C'thun. I'm sure it'll get competitive play but there is almost no enjoyment in the deck. It's like the old burst druid. Go play deathrattle paladin or hunter, or shadow priest. They're fun decks!

Can WOW's next expansion bring its legion of lost heroes home?

Hantheman

I'll be honest. I'd love to go back, but I'm not a student anymore, I can't afford the timesink. I think the game is definitely still viable, but the vanilla WoW generation was 10 years ago. I was a 17 year old student, played beta and vanilla and played a lot until I was 23. Now, I'm 27, a doctor and have responsibilities and stuff. I can't indulge all of my freetime to one thing.

WoW is probably my favourite gaming memory. Even more so than Baldur's Gate 2 (my favourite game ever). I think once my friends stopped playing I did too. So the question is not will the old ones come back, but will the new ones form strong enough friendships to stick with it.

The best PC games

Hantheman

A bit uninspiring tbh.

Civ 5 isn't the best turn based strategy available on PC. And I'm a huge Civ fan.

Not Diablo 3. Etc.

And Deus Ex is still the best game ever. Followed by BG2. Both of which eminently playable.

World of Warcraft was a defining game of its generation

Hantheman

@pmj85 Completely with you. I don't think, at 26, I'll ever get the feeling of freshness and wonder that I did have with WoW. Gaming, like many things, is something that is utterly wonderful when you first get involved with it. It is still great after, but experiencing it for the first time is always the best

My two favourite memories of gaming come from MMOs.

Vanilla WoW when I was 17 till 19. It just was so fun. Playing with mates, or making new mates. WoW changed the MMO scene, it just felt so crisp and engrossing.

Ultima Online when I was 14 just changed my gaming life. It was brutally hard for newbies, but there was something about the freedom that amde it so fun. Just run around kiling stuff/mining/dying.

Vanilla WoW was probably my favourite gaming memory. Those few years were just engrossing. For those too young or never tried the it, I can't describe how revolutionary it was.
