AMD Radeon RX 7600 vs Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 vs Intel Arc A750: the 1080p graphics shoot-out

RT benchmarks: Hitman 3, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, F1 22.

A trio of excellent ray tracing tests are put through their paces on this second battery of RT tests. Hitman 3 looks great even without RT, but IO Interactive pushes realism to the next level with a range of ultra-demanding ray tracing features. Meanwhile, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition remains the first - and only - triple-A gaming experience to be released requiring a GPU capable of hardware-accelerated ray tracing. F1 22 is an interesting example of a fully featured RT game that perhaps doesn't benefit from all of those effects, especially when it's so brutally fast from a rasterisation perspective.

To reiterate if you're jumping straight to this page without looking at prior results, our benchmarking system offers a number of ways to get to the data you want, the presentation varying according to the device you're using. You'll get a basic overview of our findings on mobile, with metadata from the video capture of each GPU being translated into simple bar charts with average frame-rate and lowest one per cent measurements for easy comparisons.

On a desktop-class browser, you'll get the full-fat DF experience with embedded YouTube videos of each test scene and live performance metrics. Play the video, and you'll see exactly how each card handled the scene as it progresses. Below the real-time metrics is an interactive bar chart, which you can mouse over to see different measurements and click to switch between actual frame-rates and percentage differences. All the data here is derived from video captured directly from each GPU, ensuring an accurate replay of real performance.

Hitman 3

It looks like a mistake, right? How can Arc A750 and Arc A770 have exactly the same 1080p performance, right down to identical one percent lows and highs? A rebench provided exactly the same results! There's a small degree of movement at 1440p, but this highlights an issue. You've got to really, really want 16GB of memory to make the Arc A770 a viable purchase at $350 when the A750 is so much cheaper. But then again, it is the cheapest 16GB GPU on the market.

Arc continues to dominate the RT results here, beating the RTX 3060 12GB and every AMD offering we could throw at it in similar price ranges, including the RX 6700 XT. Another great thing about Hitman 3 is that it's another game to support all upscaling tech, so whether you're on AMD, Intel or Nvidia, you'll know your hardware is fully utilised in terms of onboard features (though of course, AMD's software solution works on all GPUs).

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition

4A Games' revised version of its excellent action adventure shooter remains the only triple-A title that demands the use of a graphics card that allows for the use of hardware-accelerated ray tracing and it's another tremendous win for Arc A750 in value terms. It's faster than RTX 3060 Ti (!) and possesses 84 percent of RTX 4060 Ti performance. It's just a shame that 4A Games never went back to add FSR2 or XeSS support.

The new RX 7600 hasn't fared too well in the results so far, but RDNA 3's upgraded RT hardware does seem to show some promising signs. Here, the new AMD card beats the RTX 3060 and comprehensively bests the cut-price RX 6650 XT that's causing it so many value-related problems in the market right now.

Metro Exodus Enhanced, Extreme, Ultra RT, Nvidia Features Off

F1 22

We're running the Codemasters racer fully maxed at its ultra high setting for this one, with the full complement of RT features engaged - though it's fair to say that their impact in improving the visuals is difficult to spot in the thick of the race. After showing so much value for its price-point, the Arc A750 (and indeed the A770) start to lose pace here, with Nvidia's sales juggernaut basically on par with the lower-end Intel offering.

The RX 7600 continues the form seen in Metro Exodus by offering higher performance than the RTX 3060, but again, it's very, very close, bringing it more into line with the Arc A750. Similar to Metro Exodus, good results for the RX 7600 tend to reflect well on the RX 6700 XT as well though its natural competitor - RTX 4060 Ti - is way ahead.
