  • Editor's blog: A brief note about "GamerGate"

  • silversun 02/09/2014

I used post a fair bit on sites but never in the way described here. have become a lot less vocal online in last year or so but still keenly follow what happening in the games industry and read posts of other people a lot.
My view is this is aimed at people causing harassment. With the celeb photos thing as well that just happened. The internet can be a worrying place but us everyday always here fan's of games with very wide range of view are still here so just checking in for now.

Went back through this about a year or 2 ago on Play station. The speed boost is cool feature for new version.
I found that ultimecia was harder than omega weapon at lv 99. As a replay was very different from first time I finished the game. Never done lv 1 or zero play so might try that this time.

  • Face-Off Preview: Battlefield 4 next-gen vs. PC

  • silversun 29/10/2013

The videos just convinced me to upgrade my ram on pc, seems 4gb wont be enough for next few years.
Still next gen console wise this is a really amazing video.
The ps4 version has some issues as well the most noticeable was that giant sign that did not come into view in till a bit later and the xbox one version text was a bit slow to pop in to view so really interesting video even if the capture had some problems.
Still might get a next gen console but it will be maybe a year after launch.

I am one of the armchair people not in industry and yeah it looks quiet poor but all the facts not out there yet.
What i do hope though is that if he does not get the ip back that maybe it can encourage him to try start an indie project with a small team, at least then it can get some of his own game ideas out there and it not so big budget.

how much did tomb raider cost to make thats what i want to know, i just done some adding up of figures and would be interested to know how much games cost to make. Maybe this is something eurogamer could do is cover something like this in the future.
I think at moment this is a industry wide problem not just a square enix problem.

  • Resident Evil 6 "lost its momentum, resulting in the failure to achieve planned sales"

  • silversun 04/02/2013

The game was good but not great that is my honest view on itand im a fan since resident evil 2.
I like the puzzle stuff the old resident evil games had.
The pacing was the biggest thing that caught my attention about resident evil 6 and even had same issue in revelation right at the end of the game when they escaping that base area.
some of the combat was so fast it was like they trying to turn game into call of duty or some other fast action game.
When you compare the pacing of the game to resident evil 4 which was a massive change from 2,3 and cv then you will see what i mean.
The next resident evil could maybe in my view gain something from going to a slow pace horror vibe, sure it does not have to be scary but look at what uncharted did to that genre which is kinda like tomb raider but now tomb raider is trying be like uncharted.
Changes can be made to give the feel of resident evil a more slow pace horror vibe without going back to the origonal gameplay of 1, 2 and 3.
Or do other prefer action gameplay that resident evil series has at the moment?

I read this an only thing in my mind is how the tex murphy kickstarter project would not be happening at all.
I think the real issue is not how much money people have.
It is what risks would publishers take on certain kinds of games and thanks to kickstarter we can make it happen with out all that.

  • silversun 26/11/2012

Best image i have seen for this is the "ITS A TRAP" one.
There are other issues the game is having like subscribers being stuck in free to play and servers crashing alot because suddenly alot more people online and they less servers now, plus some people having trouble with cartel coins.

However as the review says yes the game is playable and worth a try.

Its about £50 more than when the wii came out.

Have to say sadly i am put off by the wii u and its not only the price, the design of it is putting me off.
The e3 presentation they did of it was terrible and that what made my mind up as to not buy it at launch, however if enough good games vcome to wii u i may change my mind and buy on but have become more restricted in what i buy in all my gaming, i not even buy black ops or halo atm and i know how big the 2 games are.

Im sure it will do good buy for me it not what i looking for atm.

The game is great so far and went and got the grand master pack for this. however i think they should turn the game Free to play and improve what they offer in the cash shop, this would maybe bring in some new people to try it out.
In terms of subscription online game sure wow will do fine but as a player, i am now very interested to see how final fantasy 14 2.0 does.

Keep reading free to play is the future, it might be for some types of games but not all games.

  • silversun 02/08/2012

Did not spend much time reading this but got the idea of what it was saying.
I think the real problem is game prices, at least for traditional video games.
Games are £10-15 too expensive £49.99 or £39.99 vs £29.99 i know which would make me want to buy more Video Games but then again i am cut down buying for personal reasons as well so...

Some people even think £29.99 too much but really not sure if it would drive sales up,but it might. any other thoughts on this?

  • silversun 02/07/2012

cloud gaming is a double edge sword in my view, its great and bad at the same time.

I see the benefit or having so much space, plus maybe my stance towards how i spend money on games is changing at the same time this is starting to happen, so i think i will be less willing to buy games in the future not more willing so maybe this is not such a bad thing.

On the other hand i fear for older games being lost in time and the lack of choices as major publisher put out only certain types of games, not to mention the fear of a lack of choice over the prices of video games.
Thankfully the silver lining at the moment is a strong indie and casual (yes casual) games scene.

Cloud gaming needs some real debate, on it strength and weaknesses before its too late.
At the moment the view is too strongly weight in one camp or the other. choice for people is the most important thing i believe.

  • silversun 26/06/2012

Thank you bioware and EA for doing this, still halfway in mass effect 3 so will be adding this to see what it brings to ending.
Its a nice gesture even if people where not happy with the ending.
Not all fans of games will complain about things in games, sometimes i understand why though other times maybe it is silly.
I Think more honestly it just about passion we have for games rather than anything else.
It is up to the people that make the games to decide the direction they want the games to go.

It is a real shame what is happening at sega atm.
Games like this will be made less often and well it is because big blockbuster games are taking over.
I will be looking at steam and download market for all the unique idea's from now on and it would be nice see some these publishers adapt to the changing market and make cheaper games that are more like AR on platforms like steam, even i phone and android, even though i not crazy fan of all its casual stuff and do not own one myself.

Am going to support the game but can really see it not doing great which is a ashame but oh well thank you for making the game platinum and can't wait for your MGS game.

@SpaceMidget75 i think FPS have become detached and desensitized from reality. sure i might play COD on the odd day, it does not make me want to go and do it in really life.

Plus doom and Wolfenstein always had a cartoon like image to them back in the day.
Now games are getting more real like now, but they not on level with say film.

When i recently played the air mission in the first cod modern warfare, i did feel bit disturbed playing it to say the truth maybe because how real it felt.

the more real something becomes the better it needs to be handled, video games are no where near that realism level though atm , if we had holo decks then i think reaction would maybe be bit different.

@silversun I think the issue can be overblown for me i would like see a real mature way they show this story but i can tell it wont be, game will be fun though.
Games and even films suffer from the same things at the moment, if it works why change it.
It would be cool see the new tomb raider as a game that really stands out from all the others but it will maybe end up as as good as everything else which is not bad, but say team wanted this be best tomb raider ever i not so sure about that.

Now that i have finished it i can give another viewpoint on the resident evil game.
Campaign without DLC is very short for a resident evil game, finished it in 5 and half hours, however if you going for trophy the it will last longer.
multi-player is ok. heroes mode is good.
Not ground breaking but can be fun, plus i liked the old resident evil areas done in a new way.
Overall an average side game (story really does not add much to resident evil universe, survivor did a better job of that) to resident evil universe.
Out of new resident evil games out recently the 3DS one was the best one revelations.
Really interesting to see how six turns out.

So if interested in the game then it can be fun but do not expect it to be as good as a mainline resident evil.
