My gaming next gen will consist of the PS4 and the new xbox. For the 8 years those consoles are supported I will have the greatest choice of the greatest games by the greatest games companies around.
Why on earth people blow their money on costly PC rigs for a worse set of games baffles me. Reply0
Cool article, but would also like an in depth view of the beginning of the Chinese and Indian software scene. By sheer weight of numbers, a third of the world's population between them, those two nations will dominate the video games world both in hardware and software content once they get going.
But when is that happening? Is it already happening now?
Is the Chinese equivalent of Nintendo or Playstation being designed even as we speak?
The reason for multiple platform releases is because gamers come from across a broad economic spread. Not everyone can afford an up-to-date gaming pc and so play on console, tablet or phone instead.
Not everyone has a dedicated gaming room and so cannot have every system known to man set up in their own home arcade.
If one was being cynical, it could be said that the OP is saying fuck the poor.
I don't understand the psychology of people wanting to sink £200 in a hardware platform that is in freefall. You don't support a hardware manufacturer like you do your football team. Nintendo are finished as a console maker. They will simply downsize accordingly and just make games. You'll still get Nintendo fan favourites like Mario and Zelda, its just that you can then play them on the Playstation and Xbox instead. Reply-5
Occulus Rift looks amazing and I have watched many of the vids on Youtube.
But I do not game on PC. Too many hassles, too much cost.
If they can get Sony or Microsoft to support this hardware then I'm in. Without that support then I'm out - along with several other millions of gamers I would imagine. Reply-15
Loved Dead Island and will probably enjoy the hell out of this too.
However, like many gamers I don't buy games in their new release window anymore. And haven't done for almost this entire gen. For two reasons:
1) prices of games are effectively halved in price within 2 months
2) almost all games are released to the buying public with game ruining issues and bugs
In three months time I'll pick this up for £15, assuming of course that it has been patched by then.
The games industry needs a serious kick up the ass. Reply+42
Fantastic driving model, graphics and track selection, but ended up playing less and less of GT5 as the loading screens and horrible menu interface were an irritant and not user-friendly at all.
Fix the front end interface and I'll be all over this game like a rash. Reply-1
If it costs too much money to make videogames using personnel in the UK, USA, Japan or Europe then pay staff less or outsource to cheaper countries like other industries do.
People involved in making videogames seem to regard the work they do as warranting massive salaries. They don't. They are code monkeys, or artists not able to make a success of their talents on their own backs. So they seek employment in the videogame industry where lazy management decisions have kept development teams in the established regions and salaries have risen higher and higher still.
American McGee has the right idea. Form your concept for a game then find cheap talent in distant lands to make the games. The UK videogame design studios will all be shut within five years, and videogames will be as good or better than ever. Reply-7
A beautiful looking game on ancient creaking hardware thats as powerful as a calculator according to the pc gaming master race. Talented developers and art teams will blow minds when the next gen consoles arrive. Until then, PS3 and 360 continue to kick ass.
Judging from the cover photo he looks like a slacker hippy anyhow. Bet Zempella was carrying him for years at Activision and when Respawn started gave him the ultimatum of work or weed. And West said "I need the weed, bro" Reply-6
Real Racing is the premier racing series on iPad. Unbalanced review with a slightly unhinged focus on buying credits. Most games allow for buying credits these days and in almost all examples it is optional. Real Racing 3 credits exist for those who just want to unlock everything right away. Other gamers will churn away, race after race, accruing credits the same way we have all done in Gran Turismo and Forza and Dirt and Need For Speed for years.
Why do some people constantly seek an alternative to a brand that has already nailed the mobile os and store? If you have any interest in mobile gaming on tablet or phone buy into the IOS format. Once you embrace their hardware your focus is then solely on the software - and the greatest number of developers support that format. You really can't lose.
Remember those wally's that thought the Microsoft Surface would bury the iPad? I guess they'll soon be buying this crap too. Reply-20

It is superb. And easy. I like easy games. If I want to get my ass kicked I just need go speak to my boss. Gaming is for relaxing.
Anyhow, didn't buy it. It was part of the PS+ subscription. I presume developers and publishers get a slice of that money too? Reply +1
