  • petebritish 03/11/2016

1st COD ever I won't be buying. From the looks of this, that is a good choice. The whole space setting with your usual guns with bullets seems ridiculous. If tech has advanced so far that we are in space fighting surely you would not be using guns with bullets. ?! Maybe I reading too much into it. The whole concept is flawed in my view.

Would imagine if sales are down and Battlefield 1 impresses, we may see a reboot in the future..

Would rather it be set in Napoleonic era where you advance through stages of the military. Like a Civilisation game for FPS.

  • Titanfall 2 fails to beat Titanfall sales in UK

  • petebritish 31/10/2016

Disappointing to hear. Like many have said, great game. We loving it so far both multiplayer and campaign excellent.

Talking to 1 of my elder Sons about what games are people are playing/wanting at University he saying BF1 and COD and FIFA the only 3 games you need to do a Degree apparently!!

When I said not many be playing COD this year as it looks rubbish. No everyone still getting it, we all want Modern Warfare upgrade etc. etc.

When I said Titanfall 2 which is a new game really good reviews great game-play, made by the people who did Modern Warfare original but a NEW game literally no interest.

A real soft launch not much hype, no celeb endorsement or flashy advert. Unfortunately it is a game that is not street cool. Hopefully word of mouth and its a sleeper hit. Cant help think should have launched in late August early September to stand better chance. Or as others have said Easter time.

There are enough on the servers to keep me going and still all better than me. At least the capture A B and C only says points and kills not deaths....

  • Is being bad at games really so terrible?

  • petebritish 30/10/2016

Great article. I am certainly poor at most modern games. When the kids beat you on every game going it not great. However old school gaming. Track and Field Arcade Cabinet, PacMan, Donkey Kong. My kids are nowhere near as good. I and they still enjoy them though.

What I find more relevant than how good you are at the game is how good you are at writing about it. When reading a review, the most important thing is the text and how it's written into a coherent story. Ellie you excel at that.

The only type of review that I feel that is beneficial to be good at the game, would be a video review. Nothing worse than a YouTube video of someone like me on Battlefield. Unless you looking how not to play.

A video review you tend to look at the picture not listen to the words spoken. A written review is all about the words and how you use them. That's why Ellie when you grace Eurogamer with an article it's instant read. Keep up the great work....

  • Bethesda's anti-consumer review policy comes as no surprise

  • petebritish 26/10/2016

It seems to be going full circle on who as consumers we trust with advice when we buy games. Back in the day I used to read Zero magazine, they once had an article saying in the future we will have web sites with reviews. This was according to them bad as you might have a advert you could click in real time and this would be dangerous.

Actually it was them just worried for their jobs as they knew people would prefer to see live videos, in game footage instant news views. While reviews could be out on games release days etc.

Now the big gaming websites Eurogamer Giantbomb IGN Gamespot are similarly worried about Twitch YouTube gaming etc.

Real people showing footage of games and chatting about them. Not concerned with advertising budgets, shareholders etc. Just happy to get some free stuff to play and earn money just monetising their YouTube channel.

Consumers rightly or wrongly put weight in average joes opinions rather than so called experts. You only have to look how news outlets often quote a random off Twitter as though their is weight behind what they say.

When I was a kid you watched the news, they were talking about joining the common market. On came a Professor from OxBridge who had studied it for 20 years. Now we leaving the EU on comes a quote from Sid the white van man who logs on Twitter calling himself EUisPoo and he's the expert.

    Heaven help us all!!!

  • GAME charges people to try PlayStation VR in its shops

  • petebritish 24/10/2016

Sent my Wife and Son in yesterday. He wanted a code for a Pokemon which is supposed be free. 2 seconds after entering store, a young guy blocked their path saying "Give me £5 to try this, it's the future". "No thanks" the wife said. Still he persisted. Eventually asked for said Pokemon Volcanion code. Guy at counter said we only give that out if you buy a Pokemon game. Ridiculous.

Compare with Smyths toys who gave us extra codes for rare Pokemon in case it didn't work. If it hadn't been my decision to boycott their stores years ago, I would shown the assistant how we do virtual reality round my way.....

Sooner they disappear off the High Street the better. It is has know put my wife off buying PSVR saying it looked daft anyway. Christmas present to myself off the radar too.!!

  • petebritish 27/11/2014

  • Halo: Master Chief Collection dev issues "heartfelt apologies" as matchmaking issues continue

  • petebritish 25/11/2014

I spent 7 days downloading this . So far I have managed to play one online game. Ridiculous.

I was excited leading upto launch . Finished work early specially. Played first level single player to adjust to control layout. Was hoping to settle into multiplayer... Even hyped kids up who remember watching me play original.

Since launch managed one game online. Still cant get online. Have seen the game on sale now at £30 and really wished I had not bothered or at least waited. If I had spent £45 on a toaster and it didn't toast bread i would expect and get a refund. 343 and Microsoft how to spoil a launch. Poor.

  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection matchmaking fix due today

  • petebritish 12/11/2014

I waited 5 mins for matchmaking gave up did single player. Waiting 6hrs is madness. If I wait that long it would have to be for an emergency operation..

If people have that much time to burn just waiting it is no wonder I do badly online. I will b lucky to play 6 hrs online this month.

  • Halo 2 Anniversary launch trailer shows off fancy pants new cinematics

  • petebritish 29/10/2014

You start to think is it worth going backwards and doing Halo again? Then you watch these trailers, have a look on youtube at the best multiplayer maps you remember.

The answer then is a definite yes. I have set it downloading off the store. Besides I have had another son since the original, so can bore them about the Halo lore and who can then beat me in multiplayer.

    Damn my ageing reactions....

  • Wii U Wii U Wii U: Is it time to call an ambulance for Nintendo's console?

  • petebritish 25/05/2013

The Wii U could still recover and be a good system. What it need quite simply is more games. They should have delayed the machine until they had a launch line up of all their big hitters. Mario Kart Zelda 3D Mario FZero Pokemon RPG etc.

The eshop also needed to be launched all guns blazing. Their collection of old software is amazing. All their main franchises have already made them a massive profit, they should have looked at ios and android stores as the competition here and sold cheaper 99p price point all their snes titles N64 titles lauched on day one. Everyone would have bought loads of titles.

  • PlayStation 4 to launch in Japan and North America this year, but not reach Europe until early 2014 - report

  • petebritish 01/02/2013

I can't help but think that if this report is true, and MS release oct/nov time Sony will struggle to catch up in Europe for a good few years. MS console with a good launch line up across Europe would be a massive headstart.

I thought Sony did not want to happen this time round?

I will I am sure get both, however the masses will probably go for the machine that launches this side of christmas.

  • Proving Ground demo on Live

  • petebritish 12/09/2007

Great demo loads of new features. Looks good,I hope I can kill Eric though at some stage. He is annoying as hell.

Loads better than Skate demo, which was way too frustrating to have FUN!! You might get a sense of achievement with Skate but its at the expense of enjoying playing. IMO

It seems to be like Pro Evo Vs FIFA or Burnout Vs Forza.

One gets the adrenaline going with edge of the seat gameplay the other is like a game of Chess via email. Satisfying yet?!
