  Great response. So you haven't read the review yet (of course you haven't, and I nor anyone else would believe you if you said you had), but felt compelled to slag of its objectivity anyway. Face it, Halo 3 is one of the best games to be released this year. The sales, the scores, it's unanimous. I suggest you come to an acceptance 'mate'. And so ends our dialogue. You can't possibly have anything of worth left to say that's worth my time or a response!

  "As for Edge - That is not surprising. Most magazines will for some reason? Thats what the prob is. Sure - give it a great score, for the right reasons without ignoring the bad. In which case Edge didnt give a review - they gave a praise - which kind of defeats the object and misleads the public"

  A psychologist could learn a lot from this thread. The sheer, unadulterated outpouring of venomous hate from certain 'contributors', whilst being lol-worthy to the max, is surely indicative of deep-seated and worrying psychological issues. It is with a mixture of shock, horror and bemusement that I ask myself just why it is that some people are so angry that Eurogamer decided to award Halo 3 a 10.

  Here's what Shinji (the reviewer) just said in the forums:
  
  "Halo 3 is not a perfect game, but it is the pinnacle of a fantastic series and by far the best game within its own genre - which is balls-out, blockbuster-style FPS action. That, to my mind as a reviewer, is enough to justify a 10/10 - because the game simply doesn't have enough flaws or problems to justify dropping a full mark from its score.
  
  There are two kinds of tens which I've awarded as a reviewer; tens for games which are genuinely groundbreaking and innovative (Shadow of the Colossus, Half-Life 2) and tens for games which simply take existing game mechanics and build a stunningly polished experience out of them, which genuinely stands head and shoulders over other things in the genre. Halo 3 is in the latter camp."

  I wonder will there ever be a Halo-related comments thread that doesn't reach 100 posts and descend into trolling and flamebait? Probably not, while there are a copious amount of bitter and twisted h@70rz out there, determined to try and rain on somebody's parade, for their own entirely unfathomable reasons. Ah well. I'd much rather be sat here in my chair, excited in the manner of a child weeks before Christmas Day, anxiously awaiting the release of a game that I'm sure to get hours upon hours of enjoyment out of, than a sad git sat on internet messageboards, trying to convince everybody that such and such a game is crap, and that people are somehow wrong to like/love it for their own personal reasons...   Just for the bitter Sony fanboys who are trying to pick holes at all the multiplat games in EG's list. Of course there'll be a few. That's the reality of the industry today. The point is that you don't need a PS3 because the Xbox 360 has got the lion's share of its worthwhile (multiplat) games anyway, as well as a smattering of potentially awesome exclusives to complement the third party riches being bestowed upon MS' box this season.

  Am I the only that I thinks that only retards like Halo only because it's the only game out there that is crap yet is only hyped because it's a shooter, which are only liked because it helps people live out their aggressive tendencies, which are only there because society........

  Eh, a lot of people do actually, including me.
  
  Anyway, I though Top Spin 2 was better than Virtua Tennis 3. It was more realistic, more tactical, and just a better all round simulation, to VT's arcadey sensibilities. It was flawed though (TS) and it's about time they took out those gimmicky EA-style 'risk shots'. Other than that, looking forward to this. COME ON TIM! :D Reply 0
