IMO Eurogamer is a banhammer away from being the best gaming site around. Love the articles but its embarassing to see a select few lunatics running around, reducing every single thread here to nothing more than childish jealousy.

    Fuck off.

Not sure what you mean, tbh!

Quotes that are taken out of context and posted as news, serving as flamebait.

Anyways, glad to see that the issues are infact being addressed. Most other gaming sites are already catering to the lowest common denominator and playing up the fanboy wars for quick hits, no need for another one. It would be a shame seeing EG stumbling down that same route.

Posting 4-5 news items from every interview.

Out of context, apparently (but not really) inflammatory news items.

Monthly 360 Vs PS3 Face offs.

    Controversial review scores.

    Forums where fanboys run rampant.

Congrats on your success on the business side but it came at a great expense. While this is still the only gaming site I frequent regularly, its by no means the site it once was.

If you can't understand the difference between getting more hits and selling reviews , thats not my problem.

Quoting your work from the last four pages:

''360 owners are just hardcore gamers...''
''PS3 owners are unconsciously loyal & rabid in their devotion to a company...''
''Maybe you don't understand your own''
    ''you're talking bullshit''
''Are you really as dumb as you sound?''
    ''You are bullshit!''
''you always come out looking dumb and dumber...lolz.''
''you are making a complete phud of yourself''
    ''are you nuts?''

Everything should be open to scrunity, nothing wrong with that.

The problem with this thread and most gaming forums in general are the posters who attack other posters with the ''i'm-so-above-you-all attitude'' without anything to back that up.

What made you think using gibberish there would help achieve the mature look you were going for? Strange choice of words, ironic even.

I'm not a forum elitist with an obsessive compulsion to stand guard for and defend a website when I don't like the way things are being handled. I wouldn't mind a 6 or 7 for this game but EG should have the balls to stick a Krudster or Bramwell under the reviewer name when they want to be critical to a big title (and the text IS very critical).

Instead, what you have is a review with text leaning for the majority towards a 6 or a 7, marked upto 8, written by someone whose profile shows them only having done three-and-a-half reviews for the site prior to this. What part of that doesn't seem like a copout?

    Please leave Eurogamer alone people.

They're just trying to get the page hits they would otherwise have got from a 360VsPS3 faceoff for the game. Its not about being loyal to the readers or somesuch. Its just not good business you see.

Those looking for a credible review, please look elsewhere.

''Review by Oli Welsh'' did raise my eyebrow before I read the review tbh. Being controversial is all well and good (and pulls in the crowd) but the reviewer lacked the subtelty to pull it off:(

The review is a convoluted mess with enough ups and downs to be a worthy competitor to Kojima's own work... ''if there's one thing Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't, it's compromising...Features that would be a tent-pole selling-point for other games are frittered away as Easter eggs and one-shot surprises...Design-wise, MGS4 is mostly a refinement of what's gone before...the first of these is such a precise and enthralling distillation of stealth gaming that it's a shame more people won't see it,etc, etc.:)

EG got lots of site hits between NG2 and MGS4. Now lets see exactly how thin Eurogamer can manage to stretch its repution.

  • Isere 24/08/2007

Sony has landed in a bit of trouble with the Leipzig thing backfiring and Lair and now Heavenly Sword not coming out all guns blazing like many were hoping for.

With GTA 4 moved to Q2 '08, and MGS4 producer teasing the audience when asked about the MGS4 for 360 question, this is the time for Sony to start firing on all cylinders and showing any and everything they've got that can give them an edge, and I strictly mean games ofcoarse.

They can still make lost ground and come back strong but not without the games.

''360 owners won't care whether the PS3 has a game with graphics comparable to Gears as we've had Gears for a long time and it's no skin off our nose''

I think all this fuss is because there hasn't been much else since to have topped it graphically.

''judging by other multi-plat games, it will be better on the 360. I know you don't like the fact but you can't deny it either.''

Its pretty well known at this stage that most multiplatform games are developed for Xbox 360 first due to its wider user base so its not really fair to compare them to their rushed ports on PS3. I would even go one step further and say that since PS3 is getting a rare preferrential treatment for UT3, it will probably not be better on the 360 this time around.

It would be more appropriate to see 1st party titles go head to head come next year when Sony will actually have something other than Resistance and Motorstorm to show.

''You say I 'spin' things a certain way but you know my points are in the most part true and valid, it's not my fault if you can't handle the truth dude.''

I think we should all learn to handle the truth and give credit where credit is due.

''well you are totally wrong the Wii has fuck all games and sells by trucks loads''

IMO the reason the Wii sells like it does has a lot to do with its lower price point compared to the competitors.

The important thing to realize is that a vast majority of last gen console owners are still waiting to get a better idea of the market before making their next gen purchase and quite a few bought the Wii to keep them occupied till they make the lunge.

I really do believe that this time around there are going to be a lot of people with a Wii + PS3/XBOX360 and since Sony and Microsoft are going directly head to head, you have to atleast be open to the idea that games are going to be the main determining factor of the eventual outcome.

This is critical time for both Microsoft and Sony and after their rather nice showing at E3 this year, I personally think that SCEE head David Reeves should probably have just kept quiet instead of dishing out 'uncalled for' disappointment.

I didn't buy the PS3 to record TV, etc. I wanted to know about how 8 days and the getaway are coming along and an official rumble/touchsense confirmation.

''NOT just a games machine it is multimedia hub that what alot of you forget its not just all about games''

As The Bodybuilder already pointed out, that was clearly a joke.

As a Muslim myself, I almost didn't want to come into this thread because I knew it would mirror the usual hostility towards Muslims found elsewhere these days.

It is then a joy to see that even if few and far inbetween, there are still people like kangarootoo who have an independant opinion. One which is actually theirs and not just a rehash of something else they saw someone else say.

Upwards of 22% World Population is Muslim, pls don't let the actions of a few people make you intolerant of the rest. I couldn't emphasize enough that Islam is a religion of peace and does not condone the killing of innocent human beings of any religion.

  • Silent Hill 4: Two Guys In A Room

  • Isere 25/08/2004

Having only played silent hill 3 before, and having read the rather grim reviews, I was really very pleasantly surprised by the fourth in the series.

I didnt find the gameplay dull in the least (maybe because it was my second silent hill) and although it might not be very scary, it is certainly full of atmosphere and has a great story (yes it does) .

It took me about 14 and a half hours to finish it on medium difficulty (took me about 9 or so in silent hill 3) and I actually didnt mind the levels being 'redone' because I was having a wonderful time through and through and wanted to see the story resolved.

I am a bit of a horror anything buff but I would say that everyone interested should atleast give it a try before completely writing it off.

I did and really loved it.
