Has something changed or do NPD's still not track digital sales?

If that's the case then I'm pretty sure all PC players have downloaded Overwatch from and as such wont have registered on the NPDs?

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

This is great news for budget builders. I have a few friends who are keen to get into the PC game but with budget limitations so this could be a winner.

I, however, have my eye on a 1070. I'm upgrading from a 660 so am looking forward to having my socks blown off.

  • The new Need for Speed remembers what's great about the series, but why is it always online?

  • DoomedSeraph 02/11/2015

Devil's advocate here@ Always online really doesn't bother me. I have a very strong, stable net connection and don't intend to still be playing this game in 3 years time.

The only thing that does bother me about this article is that small comment about getting PvP races as this is one of the main reasons I play any racing game. I've not played a NFS in a few years but the last one I played (by Critereon) was a joy online. I hope that this throw away comment isn't a sign of how the game actually is and is more a case that the (p)reviewer wasn't looking/trying very hard.

  • DoomedSeraph 28/10/2015

Videogames are played by millions of people in this country, so it stands to reason that any person doing anything has played a game or 2. Interesting that there's no mention of the movies he watches, what TV shows he likes or any books he reads (probably doesn't) that contain cybercrime and violence. Obviously movies, tv and books have no impact on people .. but videogames? They mainline straight to the urge to kill and hack. Obviously. Because science. Reply +3

  • The unlikely story behind YouTube's most-viewed gaming video

  • DoomedSeraph 12/08/2015

@wyp100 Thanks for the comment Wes. I read the article and appreciated it's long form analysis, I'll give you that. However, the fact that you never reached a conclusion other than to speculate about parents playing youtube videos to their children to shut them up, based apparently on a single comment, left me and others baffled (according to other dowm rated comments). Ultimately all I saw was the full name of the video being repeated numerous times, a classic SEO trick that is even described in the first half of your article. You cannot blame me for criticising you, and 'despair' is not a good response to criticism.

Only you can know your motives for repetitive writing style (and I dont want to come across as angry here or a troll, because I am not, I am simply commenting on what I believe to be sloppy writing) but do not pass your content off as unmotivated by advertising, EG's business model is exactly that. We all have bosses, I dont mind that, but please dont get on your high horse.

Find me a journalist or writer who thinks using a 5 word phrase 11 times in an article is good writing and I will eat my hat. Perhaps you should try playing radio 4's 'Just a Minute', have a chat with your Business Development Manager, and then get back to me.

Well this article certainly plays the SEO game pretty well too. How many times can you fit Cars 2 HD Gameplay Compilation into a single paragraph? Apparently 5. How many times in an article? A quick Ctrl+F finds 11 but I'm sure there are more hidden in meta tags and images.

Good try EG but Ad black says no. No cashing in on this for you.

  • CD Projekt tackles The Witcher 3 downgrade issue head on

  • DoomedSeraph 21/05/2015

Graphical downgrade = gameplay upgrade. Personally I couldn't care less how large my textures are or if my alpha effects are less detailed than they 'could' be. The main thing is that this is an amazing game and I'm loving it. The world is staggeringly detailed (not just visually) and every element adds depth and intrigue.

Keep up the great work CD Projekt and thanks for being so open, this was an interesting read. (I'd much rather the doors opened than the fire sparked and crackled).

Very glad that the guys on NMS have really done their homework and lived the life that will make this game a real gem. Hopefully it will live up to people's expectations. Reply 0

While I'm excited for a new ELITE game, I'll wait for the completed release thanks all the same.

This does just strike me as a kickstarter goal though, I mean if you look at it that way it's a 100 donation level bonus. Kickstarter backers pay more than this for a concept, so 100 for backing the project AND immediate access to a portion if the game? Whatever floats you boat, my friend.

  • DoomedSeraph 06/12/2010

I can't even dignify this as "alarmist bullshit" ... it's just a ratings grabber. Gaming is a hobby, simple as.
Gaming is no more addictive than reading, sport, tv, painting etc. I guarantee you that watching foot...ball is more of a problem to youths and the economy (as nearly all clubs operate in debt, whereas games companies actually contribute positively) not to mention the "addiction" involved in football! How many people waist their time watching 90 minutes of garbage, spouting anti-social chants and generally numbing their minds compared to those gaming socially and stimulating their imaginations with story and character driven plot lines?

You can imagine the foam I'm churning here... ignorant fucking mass media retards. They havn't even tried to report a balanced social documentary or a scientific argument... It's just garbage for those ADDICTED to TV.

  • DoomedSeraph 27/03/2008

I agree fully with all the anti-war and anti-regime statements in this piece, also that racism and cultural ignorance and stereotyping is rife within both America and most of the Western World. Also I'd like to thank Bilal for his art as it's one of the most relevant and seminal works on the subject. However, I do not agree that the simple matter of content here is anything other than obvious, just because it now applies to our favorite medium does not make it any more pressing ... just more relevant. A book is a book, yet Mein Kampf is controversial and , say, Pride and Prejudice is not. This is the way of things, ergo; nice interview, but this is nothing new. The thing that needs to be done is to educate the ignorant and mailable masses which is what I believe is most interesting in this piece (rather than the strained point about the medium) that the work was closed down and condemned as it was.

(I'd go on but I'm hitting some golf on Tiger Woods. Take from that what you will.)
