Pretty much the standard accusation thrown at every Harmony Korine film, apart from Ken Park which had terrible cinematography.

    Olympus Has Fallen. 7/10

Surprisingly enjoyable Die Hard clone. I was expecting a ludicrous modern PG-13 action film, but it's full of old school violence & sweary one liners, ideal. Gerard Butler's face moves like it's made of flumps though, bit off putting.

I enjoyed it as well, got a bit tiresome in the last third but first half or so is good entertainment. Better than the last two Die Hards.

I thought Spring Break was really mesmerizing. Annoying but good at the same time.

Over the weekend I watched all 3 Riddick films for the first time. I essentially only had one day to watch the first two before I was due to see the third so that might have affected my thoughts on them somewhat, especially Chronicles which I watched at 1am. Basically, I enjoyed all three of them though. I love the character of Riddick and the world that they've created but the actual films didn't seem all that great if that makes any sense. Maybe it's just because I'd heard quite a bit about them being good before, but had no idea what they really involved, but I think I was expecting a bit more from them. If I were to rate them I'd say Pitch Black - 78%, Chronicles of Riddick - 80% and Riddick - 81% but I might just be rating Riddick higher because I saw it at the cinema.

The main thing I liked about watching these films is that I now really want to play through both games that I've had sitting on my shelf for a few years now! I think, now I know the character and the world, I'll enjoy them a lot more!

Make sure to watch the anime movie set between Pitch Black and Chronicles. It's called Dark Fury if memory serves, and it's fucking awesome.

Its surprising how good the quality control on Riddick is. It maintains a good standard no matter the format. Movies, games and anime. I'm pretty sure it would make a fantastic TV series too.

Clearly your opinion is fact. They really aren't that bad although I will admit Chronicles higher action quotient is disappointing.

I haven't seen Riddick yet so dunno.

A fairly decent first film, a good game, and then everything else has been shit.

Fish fingers and chips pretty straight forward.

I agree with this. One good film and one good game, the rest is just trash. A bit like Resident Evil really.

    Ironman 3. - a very reluctant 6/10

Its bitty. A mixed bag of long drawn out non events and bitty action pieces. Its like downey hadn't decided whethe to keep doing ironmaan and so the producers stuffed it full of threads to cover all angles.

The problem with this marvel concept is that there is a world threat and only ironman was around. Did everyone else go on the piss in Thorland and leave ironman on watch?

The bit with the kid felt too abrupt for the storyline and contrived. Actually the more I think about it I realise that its a bit of a fucking mess.

I love ironman but this wasn't him. Downey didn't seem as relaxed in the role. Maybe he's back on the gear?

    @Madder-Max

He didn't seem as relaxed because he was having massive anxiety attacks and was an insomniac throughout the film? The film is somewhat disappointing though. I was looking forward to Kingsely ham it up as Mandarin - like Hopkins as Odin - but we got err...Trevor. :/

Its a comic book movie, comic book movies are made by their villains. A megalomaniacal Ben Kingsley would have been perfect but no...

Too clever for their own good tbh. That accent he uses really hyped me up and then pfffft.

I thought it was pretty wank all in all, although I personally liked the Ben Kinglsey take on Mandarin.

I liked it although I liked the general tone more than I liked the story.

    The Legend of Hell House

A decent haunted house flick; not very scary but quite entertaining. Terrible acting though.

    5/10

    Enter the Void

Typical Gaspar No; pure nihilism. Not for the faint of heart.

    7.5/10

    The Hobbit 8/10.

Slow start and I really wasn't sure, but then it got going and clicked. I didn't feel it dragged, but I watched it a home so that no doubt helped. The cheese was a little reminiscent of the third Rings film, which was the weakest IMO, but on the plus side I thought Martin Freemen brought some real empathy to Bilbo, when normally I barely tolerate Hobbits. Genuinely looking forward to the next one now.

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

Nice little coming of age flick in the mould of Stand By Me. McConaughey is quite good as the titular character.
Nice to see something aimed at teenagers that doesn't feel the need to talk down to them or pander to their supposed inability to remain interested without super fast editing and explosions every 30 seconds.

    Brap, brap, old chap.

    Fast and Furious 6

With each passing film it re-hashes the exact same tired formula. The action was good however been there done than 5 times before

    World War Z

Suprisingly good despite the fact the zombies weren't zombies. more like rabbies

Did appear to be a travel guide to several different countries and the film did loose the plot towards the end however it was a good watch which you cant say often for a brad pitt film

    8/10

    Anchorman - 5/10

I can never get on with it. Ron is a solid enough character, but the movie lacks direction and genuine humour. It comes across as an overblown SNL cameo sketch, written solely around the West Side Story fight scene and a handful of one liners. Makes me pine for the genius of Airplane. Fuck it, I'm watching Airplane.
