That would be an improvement, at least the Silmarillion was written by Tolkein and not a New Line committee.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

    Warhorse

A bit sentimental verging on cheesy. It was enjoyable. Inoffensive. Dreamlike at times.

Sort of film that could be watched by the entire family from young kids to your granny and they would all be ‘entertained’.

And then a few weeks later they would all have vague memories of 'that film with a horse in it – what was it called?’

    7/10

    Standard formula for this : (Your age / 2) + 7 = x

Anybody aged x or greater is fine.

Anyone below x and you're a filthy pervert who will be run out of town by pitchfork wielding vigilantes.

Solution: have a birthday in a leap year on the 29th of Feb. Then it will never be creepy.

I hardly ever turn off films once I've started watching them but I couldn't take any more than half an hour of War Horse's sentimental pap.

Oz - The Absolutely Fucking Shitefulness - 2/10

Just truly dreadful. Another unnecessary origins story which totally fails to engage on any level.

Why do we need to know? How it beings? How it ends? Can nothing be left to your imagination and not wrapped up in a happy little bow at the end?

The whole prequel thing is a fucking mess. No, we don't need to see how Anakin became Vader. We don't need to see another 3 films 3 hour films about boring Hobbits. We certainly don't need to see how Harry Osborn becomes The Wizard Of Oz.

Tell 'em everything and leave nothing unresolved! Heaven forbid you'll actually have to think and come to your own conclusion on the fate of certain characters.

The only reason I decided to watch this is because it's got Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz in the cast. They are dreadful as is everyone else.

The film was shot in 3D and it's obvious at the 3D "look at me" moments are when watching in 2D. All 3D film them but most are a lot less obvious.

The final 15 mins or so are not excruciatingly bad. It does have a couple of Rami moments here and there and some of the effects are great.

Okay, it's aimed at the young-uns. Fine. They may well enjoy it a lot. You may end up wishing that there's no place like home and escape from watching this drivel. Unless you are at home of course.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I think you need to start being more discriminating in your film choices.

Vigilante serial killer / cop drama.  Robert DeNiro is on top form in this, steals the show really, even from Al Pacino, who also gives a good performance.

    8.5/10
    Most. Obvious. Twist. Ever.
Well it was obvious that it wasnt him, but it didnt turn out to be who I thought it might be!

So you watched this movie because it has two attractive actresses in it?

Better to go with a porno, imo.

    Double Impact - 8/10

Jean Claude Van Damme wears a light blue polo shirt and pink shorts, and stars along side Jean Claude Van Damme with slicked back hair and a leather jacket. He kicks people a lot and does the splits. There's a fight at the end.

    Elysium - 8/10

    Enjoyable Sci-Fi.

I have one serious bugbear though, Jodie Foster's English accent, just why? Why did she have to have an English accent? :(

Because having a weird English/French/South African accent makes her sound more evil, obviously.

At least Kruger's accent was entertaining.

Kruger was using his own accent though :p The saffa accent is quite funny anyway. Jodie Foster's was painful, and just completely unnecessary!

    Life of Pi

Not what I was expecting at all, but different in a good way. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for the entire 2 hours - so much going on and so many wonderful colours. I could imagine watching it while on mind-bending drugs would be a hoot!

The 'twist' at the end while somewhat disturbing, made you want to remember everything that happened, to the point where I had to watch it a second time.
I'd definitely recommend this to those who haven't seen it.

    97/100
