Fast and Furious 6 75%. Seen it done before and better

Hmmm some good action set pieces mixed in with some good face palming cliche story telling and logic moments. Couple of funny lines, rest just feels forced.

Last action set piece goes on for ages and takes place on a never ending runway, which happens to end as they make the plane crash and everyone is safe.Plot spoiler With the oh you want to settle down death mark being introduced to one of the couples. Plus highest amount of leaping, flying stunts I have seen in a long time.

It's enjoyable for what it is. Not as good as 5. Believe that Jason Stratham being set as the baddie for the next one.

    @Scurrminator

I left as that scene was starting, just wasn't that bothered about watching it. They switched on the lights in the cinema screen 5 mins before the film even finished, always a good sign.

Bit of an argument started up when someone was texting on their phone, person walked down to them and told them to put their phone away. Then 5 mins later a person behind the complainer phone rang and starting talking on it. Watched that area for 5 mins in case that kicked off:).

    Star Trek into Darkness

Just saw Star Trek - liked it a lot but can easily see it is not being very memorable fairly soon.

    Must be a bit jaded.

Still love the way they've nailed the main characters though.

    7.5/10

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

    Searching for Sugar Man

Loads of friends that told me how great this film is...I've finally got around to it and they were absolutely spot on. Magical.

@TOOTR I was very confused for about twenty minutes when I watched that as I had seen Rodriguez playing at a festival a couple of years before and all of the talk about him being dead made me start questioning just who it is I watched and whos record had I bought!

You are a factory of sadness.

    Cry Freedom - 8/10

Pretty good, if maybe a little long. Denzel's performance is great, he does the accent well and the verbal sparring in the courtroom scenes is fantastic. The tension towards the end is also pretty well done. Draws obvious comparisons with A Dry White Season, enjoyed them both about the same.

Star Trek: Into Darkness - loved Khan, found the ending very contrived. It had a rooftop showdown though so I'm forced to give it 10/10.

Total Recall (2012 version) - didn't care for it at all. Another rooftop showdown though, so 10/10.

I enjoyed the first film, but this is just terrible.

I agree with this score. Thought Cumberbatch was great and the interactions of Kirk with Spock and Bones developed well, but there didn't seem to be any real threat and the ending was bit poor.

Plus Pegg needs to work on his Scottish accent.

The Power of One - 10/10

Recommended to me a while ago and finally got a hold of the seemingly hard to find DVD. It's 2 hours long but feels a lot longer (in a good way). One of the most emotional films I've seen; deals with injustice, hope, solidarity and the human spirit perfectly set in 30s and 40s South Africa. Can't fault it anyway (well perhaps Daniel Craig's weak accent aside!) everything is top notch, even the soundtrack is amazing. Simply fantastic.

    Les Mis. 10/10.

Clearly not perfect, Jalbert was done wrongly unfortunately and Cosette was warbling. However, apart from them I have no real complaints. I loved it. I'm going to wear my heart on my sleeve with this one.

I've turned off all the avatars and crap, so don't expect me to be impressed by yours.

I asked a female friend who saw Les Mis what it was like. She told me I would need a big tissue. I said something like "Why, does Amanda Seyfried get her kit off?". Did not go down well.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I saw it in the cinema - i love a good musical - but its not a very good film. Terrible camerawork, underwhelming set pieces and i couldnt stand the fact that all the spoken dialogue was sung as well,

There is no spoken dialogue in the musical, but there is some in the film.

Seems you opted for an odd reason to hate it.

I didnt say i hate it. I just didnt think it was very good as a film. It was indeed very well sung and Anne Hathaway was really good but on the whole, weak and lacking any sort of impact.

And the spoken dialogue in the film is sung as well. Which irritated me no end.

I'm all for comments on covers too. Some films have multiple covers, some covers really sell the film, while others can hinder.

I thought Les Mis was pretty good but I have a slightly irrational hatred of Crowe. It's even affected his older films when I used to think he was ok.

Intouchables-9/10; bloody brilliant. Funny, beautifully shot, and the two main actors are incredible. Also manages to be quite sweet and -ugh, hate this phrase, but- "life affirming" without ever becoming trite or saccharine. Ace film
