    This is 40.

Jesus! It was scary...not only how clever it really mirrors my life, but also how it must be my own degrees of Kevin bacon movie.
Paul Rudd - my avatar and video of my telling him he's my mancrush
    Chris O'Dowd - I'm friends with his in-laws
Ryan Adams - last week I saw him (tenuous haha)

Overall a funny look at something we all go through, with a nice hint of drama and some truly funny jokes. Plus Megan Fox looks incredible in it.

8/10 (10/10 if I'm being name dropping haha!)

Chris O'Dowd's rise in Hollywood is one of the more bizarre things to happen recently. Apparently he's even in Thor 2.

Yeah it's weird. He's actually not even that funny. Dawn must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Bought the original Alien on BD. Not quite up there with the best of all time, but it's close. Sigourney Weaver is stellar. 95%.

    Jack Reacher. 95%

Tom Cruise's best film without doubt.
    Rosamund Pike looks fantastic.
-5% for not giving the Duvall a bigger part.
Really enjoyed this movie. Solid acting, with enough action to see out the 2hr run time TC didn't overact for a change.
  • Deleted user 31 March 2013 02:15:55
Chris O'Dowd is Hollywood's latest Simon Pegg/Ricky gervais/russell brand effort at pushing a 'British' guy (i'm aware that he is Irish like myself but he is a nobody over here and made his name in Britian. I can honestly say I have never heard of him being spoken about in our media outlets or appearing on our native TV channels. The poor fucker is famous as fuck and no one gives a flying fuck back home) T

They'll forget about him in the USA by the end of the year. He'll be a regular on British TV after that though.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Swedish) was good. I've seen all 3 films, although Pt.2 felt like filler to Link Parts 1 and 3. As for the remake, I have zero interest in seeing it.
The US version is pretty good. And it is actually closer to the plot of the novel than the Swedish version.

    The Exorcist 7/10

Yeah quite good but Jesus the makeup on the girl was a bit extreme. I mean she looked like a zombie and would have been in hospital if she looked that fucked up. Perhaps that's being a bit nitpicky but the film was going the serious route so it stood out as being a bit silly plus the head spinning around was unintentionally hilarious.

    Argo - 8/10

Very tense! The last third irritated me a little because it turned into a Hollywood movie with too many coincidences to ratchet up the tension for the finale, but it wasn't enough to put me off the film. The sideplot with the estranged wife was a bit pointless too. Entertaining from start to finish though.

Rango. Our boy has watched this twice over this weekend. I have still to see the middle half hour, since we always have other stuff to do, but it has been great to watch.

    7/10

In a few years time iit will be time to break out the spaghetti westerns. :)

    Prometheus - 7/10

Quite liked this. The lowered expectations perhaps helped a bit. Yes, the alien at the end looked crap, the characters did quite a few very silly things, and the accents were weird (the adult Shaw seemed to be from Scotland, England and France all at once), but it looked amazing, it dealt with some impressively huge and ambitious themes, and once it got going it was more or less very exciting until the end.

    Serpico - 9/10

Pacino! 70s New York! Corrupt police!

Cabin In The Woods meets Running Man. Enjoyed it.

Quick question, what happened to weirdy beardy guy at the end? Or was I not paying attention?

    7/10

    Cosmopolis - 3/10

The plot summary made this sound a lot more interesting than it is. To its credit the cyber capital stuff was intriguing, but unfortunately it gets buried underneath a mountain of dull meta talk. Not only is it dull but the dialogue is stylised so everybody talks and acts in a not normal way, showing very little emotion (this is kinda the point but it doesn't make for engaging viewing). And nothing really happens.

The themes are interesting but the movie itself is pretty dull and unengaging. Kinda like Stalker, except at least this had the mercy to have a shortish running time.

    She dives for cheese pasties
