    Silver Linings Playbook 9/10

LOVED IT BITCHES! Talkier than I imagined especially at the start but a really well done and mega-enjoyable film. The film really lit up and got going when Jennifer Lawrence arrived - wow, what a performance, couldn't take my eyes off her. She was charming, funny, sharp, sexy, manipulative and downright nasty all within a few breaths. Definitely a keeper. The supporting cast were great too - Jacki Weaver and some De Niro bloke.
    Highly recommended.

    Silver Linings Playbook - 9/10

Rather good. Excellent writing, the acting was supurb and it dealt with mental health in a much more real way than the trailers suggest. Little to fault really.

Some odd person kept shouting that they "loved it bitches" which took the sheen of slightly, but I otherwise thoroughly enjoyed it.

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

    Supernova

On a bit of a space thriller / horror thing at the mo, prob cos I started dead space.

Anyway found this for about a quid on amazon and thought why not.

After seeing it I'm only thinking... Why?

    2/10

(one point for the effects which weren't too bad and one point for Robin Tunneys norks, which also, weren't too bad)

    Catch .44

I enjoyed this, simple idea but quite well done. Forest Whitaker plays a good nutter.

    Taken 2

Stupidly offensive. Lame action, tons of ridiculous scenes, plot holes galore. Well at least I know now that Albania borders with Turkey and it's commonplace in Istanbul to lob grenades around to navigate the city without getting into trouble with local law enforcement.

Can't believe Luc Besson was involved in this.

Was initially gonna rate it 3/10 but reconsidering what I just witnessed...

    Much like Taken 1 then.

Fish fingers and chips pretty straight forward.

Well I think he produced it? Can't blame him, it was a dead cert to make cash.

    Django Unchained

Western movie Tarantino style. As always with his movies the dialogue is highly entertaining, loved Christoph Waltz even though his character is similar to Inglorious Basterds (but playing the good guy this time). DiCaprio was good too, and S.L. Jackson was in good form in a more interesting role than his usual Mr Cool fare which has become a bit tiresome for me at this stage.

The gunfight towards the end was hilarious, even my GF who hates gory stuff was in stitches.

Great cameos, excellent soundtrack, very entertaining, if a tiny bit too long.

    8.5/10

Taken 1 was at least mildly entertaining if you ignore the similarly ludicrous scenes now and then.

Looper 8/10. I really enjoyed this. There is a lot going on with this film such as the 1930's esque future depression era run by gangsters thing with the right to bear arms alive and kicking. Loved how the gene thing is played down. Just really liked it

Second time; much more entertaining though.
7/10 - though I'm bumping to 8 as Bond stands on the same spot of Turkish beach (Calis) that I got married on in 2011!

    Lesbian Vampire Killers

The worst film I've seen in a long time. I feel genuinely a little bit sad for anyone who spent money to see this at the cinema.
Awful script, awful story, not at all funny, poorly acted, not even serviceable as wanking material for any 12 year old viewers lured in by the promise the title offers, meaning it basically fails on every level.

    Best Exotic Marrygold Hotel

Quite a sweet, entertaining and mildy amusing film.

Predictable and twee as it might be, I did enjoy it and it looked absolutely stunning on Blu-Ray. The colours and scenery make it a fantastic film to show off a decent TV with.

It really is a shit film. I've no idea how it reviewed so well. I've not been so disappointed with a film in years. I think Woody is fantastic, and he doesn't even put in a bad performance in this film (it's actually a good performance) but I hated the film.

Wish I'd made some cool remark back now, instead of muttering something totally unmemorable.

Surprised you didn't put on a ridiculous Sean Connery type voice with a heavy dash of slurring and tell him he had a beautiful voice.

    Men In Black 3

It was ok, not having Tommy Lee Jones for most of the film spoiled the film somewhat. Nice to see Emma Thompson again.

@kentmonkey dad bit is that I thought the opening act was fantastic. I was getting really psyched about it. Then it got stuck and nothing happened. And the ending???

@Tonka Quite. The first 10 minutes or so were really great. Then...nothing. No character development. Felt overly long yet also as though far too much was cut out at the same time. No empathy for anyone, but then no disdain or anger for anyone either. Just to hours of nothingness with one of the most unfulfilling endings of any film I've ever seen.

Went on a bit of a binge in the last couple of weeks:

    It's a Wonderful Life (1946) - 8.0/10

Everyone should watch this at least once. Just don't take it too seriously.

    War Horse (2011) - 7.5/10

A pretty decent movie. Some great performances from Man and Horse alike.

    Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012) - 7.0/10

Pleasant little movie but doesn't have a lot of substance to it. Drags on a little.

    A Clockwork Orange (1971) - 3.0/10

    Not for me, sorry.

    Dream House (2011) - 2.5/10

Not one of Daniel Craig's better films. Rachel Weisz doesn't seem to ever age.

    Moonrise Kingdom (second time)

I absolutely love this film. The characters, the soundtrack, the visuals, the deadpan, the unashamed treatment of young love - never too sentimental, but equally never too excruciatingly 'real'. It's just very sweet.

    Mother

A young man with some sort of mental disability is charged with murder.
His mother is determined to find out what really happened in a place where good policework = extracting a confession from a retard.
A bit contrived (e.g. the son seems to snap in and out of 'retarded' mode rather conveniently, becoming an astute and emotionally intuitive human being with superhuman memory when it suits the plot).

    The Amazing Spiderman

It seemed odd that they decided to reboot the series again, but in fairness this is much better than the previous films. He's less whiny for starters and that makes a bit difference. More entertaining, some good web work.

Some of the CG was off, but that was only a minor issue.
