    Gangster Squad - 6/10

Good fun with some entertaining shootouts. Sean Penn made for a hardnut gangster.

    Les MiserablÚs - 7/10

A bit melodramatic, eh? Hugh Jackman aced it, and I was pretty impressed with Crowe's performance: he brings some empathy to Jalvert. It certainly drags towards the end, though I've not seen the stage production to compare.

    Django 5/10*

*Loses 3 points for that god-awful, cringe-inducing, self-important attempt at an Aussie accent.

Other than that, great, but somehow not as enjoyable as IB. Pacing just felt.....off.

    Expendables 2.

It's better than the first one (marginally), I think. But they're just not, y'know, good films.

Great 'acting', nice story, nice concept, lovely visuals and very feel good.

    Django Unchained
The Jew Hunter from Inglorios Basthers decides to do a PR job to improve Germany's reputation after what he did in IB. So he time travels to the wild west and starts doing good deeds for slaves.

Along the way he runs into an Oscar winner and they decide to team up against various well know Hollywoodites.

Good. Great in parts. Weird in bits.

My problem is that I can't take QTs films seriously. It's not the tale of a slave who want's to be reunited with his wife despite all odds. It's a film showcasing how that film would be if QT made it.

It's like a luxurious buffet. What I'd love to see is QT's take on a three course meal.

    For fans of Tarantino

Yes. That is part of the equation.

I'd also like to add that I really enjoyed the "third act". And that I have no fucking clue who Zoe Bell was supposed to reference.

    Life Of Pi 8
Great comment on religion that I think will go over most people's heads and they'll miss the point.

    Dredd 3D

First time I've watched it since the cinema and it's just as awesome second time around on a small screen.

One noticeable difference is that when I left the cinema I couldn't wait for more, now having seen the Blu-ray I'm a little sad that Dredd 2 will probably never happen.

Sure the plot is thin but as a day in the life of Dredd it's exactly what the plot should be - simple, perp breaking action.

    9/10
I read a lot of reviews on Imdb.com with people giving similar scores.
I don't understand how you can give Dredd a 9.

If you give Dredd a 9, what do you give Aliens and Robocop?
    13/10?
    This makes no sense.

    Surely it's a 9/10 Dredd film.
What's that got to do with Aliens or Robocop?
A 9/10 Dredd film does make sense??
Especially since there only have been 2 (as far as I know)

I thought we were rating films in general, so you compare films to other films and rate them relatively from each other.

You can't give Dredd a 9 since Aliens or Robocop which are clearly MUCH better films can get at most a 10 (99%)

This is not an opinion this is a fact.

    Pontypool 8/10 (netflix)

A weird and wonderful horror movie. A really interesting premise but I'm not going to pretend I got the ending fully.

The first hour is just edge of your seat brilliance. The second half not so much. That said it unsettled me and it's stuck with me all day and night, not many films do that.

BTW There is an extra scene after the credits just to bend your mind that little bit more.

    Dredd - film 9/10 - picture 1/10

It really is the perfect Dredd film and Urban really does nail the character. The film doesn't mess around with pointless backstory and just shoves you in a 'day in the life' scenario.

Like everyone else I'm kinda sad that we will probably never see another Dredd film because of how poorly it did which is a shame.

I was really looking forward to the 2D bluray release as the cinema version was very limited, but my god the picture quality is bloody awful and all over place which can be very distracting. At times the picture is perfect but then every other scene will be full of grain, noise and some horrible soft focus which is clearly not a style issue as the 3D version is perfect.

I'm hoping Entertainment do a 'Gladiator' and recall this shit but I'm not holding my breath.

    Dredd 85%

Excellent adaptation of the comics block wars. I'll be buying the Blu-ray at some point to support the possibility of a sequel. Great stuff!
