Right, first controller connects to the 360 fine, but when I try to connect a second controller, nothing happens. I press the big silver X button on the second controller which starts it flashing, and then press the little white button on the console. Controller 1 is registered almost immediately, whilst number 2 sits there flashing. Is it broken? It's barely been used.

*adds to pile of broken MS shit, ie. one rechargeable battery pack, one hard-drive, and 3 360's*

You must push the little white button on the controller as well.

You need to press the little white button to the right of the expansion port on the top of the controller, not the guide button. Click that, then the one on the console. If that doesn't work, keep clicking them until it does.

    :)

    Ban request.

For Xerx3s, that is. Not me.

    ;)

Isn't there supposed to be an actual order oyu press the buttons in, or did I make that up?

Try connecting it with a charge pack lead.

That doesn't connect it, the charge pack lead just supplies power - the controller is still connecting using wireless.

As everyone else has said, you press the button on the console and the little white button on the top of the controller and they'll sync up no worries.

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

I wish it were so - it simply won't sync. I've tried the buttons in different orders, nothing. It registers pad 1, and leaves pad 2 with its ring of light spinning. :(

It should work if you do the following:

    1) Turn on your console.
    2) Turn on your controllers
    3) Press the sync button on the console
    4) While the console is 'revolving' it's RoL, press the sync buttons on the controllers.

If it does not work, you should take the controller back because it is borked. I seem to recall that there was a certain early batch of controllers that had loads of problems (like not being able to connect while using a wireless headset).

Gah, it won't work. It's never even been used. That ring of lights just goes round and round and round. :(

Also, you must hold the button for a couple of seconds, not just press it.

This happened to me recently, too. My second controller just WOULDN'T connect. I tried pressing the sync buttons in every way imaginable and I replaced the batteries. Twice. I'd keep on trying but my console died yesterday. Just my luck. (Sigh).
