    Just saw this on the NOE website;

"There is a treat in store from Capcom for Nintendo DS owners too, as Ace Attorney, the franchise that has sold over 2 million copies worldwide, will see its latest installment on this popular handheld console. The exciting courtroom drama series, Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice, which is the first title in the series to be developed specifically for the Nintendo DS, will see the introduction of a brand new lead character and a new chapter. Being developed and published by Capcom and distributed by Nintendo of Europe this is a title you’re just not going to be able to wait to play!"

Apollo justice? isnt this called Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations still in Japan and the US? arnt we Europeans lucky!

They've obviously translated into German looking at the page.
Perhaps we'll be in the odd situation of getting number 4 nrfore number 3 comes out here.

Hmm... no Phoenix. I've been doubtful about this ever since I heard they were replacing him. One of the things I liked about him was that he didn't look 12.

Playing the 3rd one at the moment, I keep hoping they keep the supernatural stuff to a minimum. That's noted as one of the reasons that Phoenix is out (he was getting too powerful), and I kinda agree. It'd be nice to play the game without all this spirit medium business.

Well, the sidekick of Apollo Justice looks like a magician. So yeah. Also, I can tell you that some characters make a re-appearance in the 4th game.

Like the Judge. He is the best character ever.

Yeah I was wondering about this when the Q1 line-up was revealed. Phoenix Wright 3 is on the NOE website but not their release schedule.

They thought it'd be a fun idea to release the 4th game in Europe before releasing the 3rd one in Europe (the 3rd one is out in America and Japan, though).

They made sure to put some additional effort in to make sure the 4th one will come out in Europe after it does everywhere else, just so Europeans don't get the illusion we're equal customers or anything outrageous like that.

So no, we Europeans are not lucky. At all.

You can't possibly complain about the third game. Just import it ffs. It's excellent.

I've not imported a DS game yet. If I start now, then my collection will look odd sitting on my shelf. Half thick boxes, half thin. Do you want that on your conscience?

In all seriousness, I actually don't care when it's released. I love the series, but at the moment I'm swimming in a sea of uncompleted games. I just think it's puzzling that they'd release what is technically PW4 before the third game.

Fair enough. I've gotten very fussy over the last couple of years, so when a canonical release comes out for a series I love, it's snapped up at the earliest opportunity.

Sorry, my mistake, I was thinking of Harvey Birdman

A lot of reviews are criticising Harvey Birdman for being too high on text, too low on gameplay, but that sounds like such a double standard considering the PW games. Hope EG reviews it soon - I'm very much looking forward to the Wii version.

It seems like a more understandable criticism on a home console.

Indeed. I'm also not sure what to think of Harvey Birdman, I don't know the series at all and Phoenix Wright is such a great game because of the characters, not necessarily because of the gameplay elements.

By the way, when #4 comes out before #3 here, won't that ruin some of the jokes? The stories of 1 and 2 weren't really connected (well, the cases were not, the background story however was, but that doesn't affect gameplay at all), but there were quite a few references to the earlier game and a few jokes that made more sense if you played the first one.

Isn't that the the case with 3 and 4 as well? Would be surprised if there wasn't a single reference to the earlier game in #4.

I didn't actually know that. I thought it was that #4 would be out everywhere else before #3 was out in Europe.

Harvey Birdman looks too outrageous for my liking. Talking pigs and whatnot. Phoenix Wright uses characters which are eccentric, yet believeably so.

I've emailed NOE to ask whether they plan to release PW3 before Apollo. I'm expecting a generic "THIS GAME WILL BE RELEASED IN 2008" response, though.

Wow, EG's front page is useful, for once!

    Oh, and Kristoph is cool.

Oh, and would it have killed them to add a few more frames of animation.

"Perhaps the victim slighted the defendant's piano playing?" lols.

I get that it's tradition and all to call Phoenix a crappy defendant but someone needs to cut the guy a break - he's been pretty darn successful :)
