    Fuck iPlayer.

I just went to watch the last couple of a really interesting series I downloaded only to be told that they've expired (and been deleted). What's the fucking point of giving me a timelimit on watching free content I've downloaded to my computer?

I can sort of understand taking it offline... but ggrrrr. Wankers.

iPlayer is coming to Freesat, which is pretty awesome. I didn't realise it was available on the Triple or Wii either mind. Another reason why I should probably get a PS3... -_-

    4od doesn't work on the PS3 though.

Can you get the BBCHD iplayer on PS3?

I noticed there are HD downloads for some BBC series.... I remember someone saying ages ago that the iPlayer downloads were accessible on the 360 if you used Media Sharing because they're included in Media Player's library, so I'm wondering if that also works for the HD content too.

    If you follow me.

The quality of 4oD is fucking awful though. If they've still got 'Alone in the Wild' on there, try watching it.

4oD is fine for catching up with The Daily Show, stuff like that. Nice to have and at least there are only two adverts at a time.

Hmm, could've been me mentioning the 360/iPlayer thingy. Haven't tried it in ages, but essentially you needed to start playing the programme on the downloaded PC first (to obtain the licence), then it would work streamed to the 360.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Yeah it definitely works but unfortunately the BBC is stopping the WMV downloads soon.

What about MP4s though? I've got a couple of the Life series in HD on me laptop that I might experiment with. According the FAQ it is a supported format, just not sure about the streaming aspect.

So can I watch Life, in HD, on the PS3? Or is it best to plug the laptop into the tele?

You probably could if you DL them, and stream them using PS3 Media Server. Maybe.

I've no idea how to do a media server. I'm sure it's not hard, but I'm fucked if I can be bothered to find out.

I may just watch grainy-vision. Feeling lazy.

If you have a lot of stuff and a decent network it really does make the PS3 a brilliant media player. Just dl and run PS3 Media Server on your PC then under video or whatever search for media servers. It'll find it and add it to the menu and hey presto you'll be able to browse your files on your pc through the ps3.

Life in HD through the iPlayer is pretty weak. You're better off torrenting it if you can.

I like how 4od has a whole load of older stuff, like Absolutely and Vic Reeves' Big Night Out. I wish the BBC would sort it out and put up some of their classic TV series - there's a tonne of stuff not on DVD, like the M.R. James Ghost Stories for Christmas, Supernatural (no, not that one) and a whole load of other random weirdness I'd gladly PAY to view.

You're not wrong, the quality is shit. And my connection (2.6mb) couldn't cope with streaming it. It looked fairly naff for the duration I had it going though, no better than standard definition.

Watching the normal broadcast on the PS3, for some reason, appears to be better or at least the same quality. It's certainly better than the normal broadcast on my computer.

That'll be part of Project Canvas.

Is that the streamed version or the downloaded one?

iPlayer on the PS3 needs looking at particulary for those using the BD remote control.

It just doesn't work properly. If you load up a programme and are playing it full screen, ANY button you press (even the pause button etc) kicks you back into the iplayer webpage, and 1/8th screensize display.

Works flawlessly with the SIXAXIS, so why not make it work for the remote control? Bloody stupid!

Also, PlayTV needs to have the iPlayer built into it. Having to quit the PlayTV to run the iPlayer is daft. Any while they're at it, you should be able to browse other DNLA media servers in the PlayTV console too.

Is is just me, or does the iPlayer site not display properly in Firefox anymore? The background graphics are gone and it's a bit corrupted.

    Anybody else experiencing this?

Ah, so the BBC right royally fucked up. Works fine in IE8, not Firefox. Go for their eyes, Boo, go for their eyes!
