Registered 7 years agoBit of a bump. I just started watching this (I saw a mini 'concert' thing on BBC4 before the series starts proper) and on the basis of that ended up downloading a few episodes (watched the first 3 now).
Its ruddy bloody great, far better than I was expecting. Its quite difficult to describe, at times its like The Office mixed with a musical, only not so much cringe worthy as very gently amusing. The 'tunes' are generally hilarious, and even catchy at some points.
Anyone else out there watching this? -

Registered 7 years agoGlad someone else is into this. Really is very good but I'm afraid the general premise and the fact its on BBC 4 will limit its audience massively. I cannot, however, stop singing the 'BInary solo' at the end of the first episode to myself. My friends thought I was a nutter down the pub. -

Registered 8 years agoCaught this last night after the mini-concert thing from last week and I really liked it.
Funnily enough, I also caught myself watching screenwipe after it. Never seen it before and was thoroughly amused by the Day to Day / Armando Ianucci type show.

Registered 11 years agoThere was a superb Radio 2 version of this a while back, with Rob Brydon narrating in a rockumentary style. It turned up on UKnova, and it's definitely worth hunting down.
It was top stuff, with a few good cameos, and even made Jimmy Carr sound good as a fan who wanted them to sleep with his girlfriend.twitter: @chockey

Although you'd probably have to keep your day job."
I thought it was good, but the social comedy in between the songs wasn't quite as strong as the songs. Still ace, and I'll be watching the rest and keeping an eye out for an album.

"It's not part of the foreplay but it's still very important."
Saw an advert for them the other day saying their TV show is coming to BBC Four for any non-downloading interestees. -

Registered 10 years agoI'm going to have to try this again and sit through the songs this time. I watched two episodes and it was ok but i had to fast forward when they started singing so i think i may have missed out on some plot in the song as i wasn't that impressed with it really.
Everyone else seems to rave about it so there's something there. This signature intentionally left blank.

Registered 9 years agoThere's no plot in the songs, but the plot is there only for the songs. If you missed them you missed the whole point.

Registered 10 years agoAhhh, the songs are the point, oh ok. The songs didn't do anything for me but i'll give it another go over the weekend, see if i'm in a better mood for them. This signature intentionally left blank.

Registered 8 years ago'Tis a very good show - a bit too much like The Office at times (particularly Murray), but most amusing and I will have a looky for the clips on YouTube when I get home tonight. -

Stick with it, first one is the weakest in a way, as it's setting up the style, it really gets going pretty quick, I 've even caught the missus having a laugh at it a few times.*
