Sorry if this is old...but can someone please answer this question for me (just so that I can 'put it to bed' once and for all).

In really cold weather, you can obviously 'see' your breath. Does that mean you can also 'smoke em' out of your behind?

My mate told me he saw his dog do this while walking it once.

I was never sure if it was true or not.

I'd say yes. The gas is body temperature and has much more absorbed moisture than the cold air into which you fart. However I'd assume you must be bare-arsed to do it or otherwise the moisture condenses at the seat of your trousers.

I didn't think they did, mainly because farts are methane which is a gas rather than a vapour.

/is in no way a scientist

Totally unrelated, but one of the next videos was this awesome one about Great White Sharks: click from BBC's Planet Earth.

I'm going to go outside right now to check. It's only -7 so perfect experimental conditions. I'll ask my secretary to make notes.

Of course not. I'll just whip down my fleece lined trousers and knitted long johns for the ten seconds it takes to conduct this experiment.
