New Essa tune (Yungun) is great. Nice relaxed vibe.
He's never going to ditch the Yungun name is he
Currently listening to some french hiphop. This is an album I listened to a lot in college, from '95. I've always loved it. He has a great flow (probably helps it's in french). Good beats too
Raekwon sez new Wu-Tang album is 'mediocre shit'
To be frank, as has most of Raekwon's output in recent years, so it's a bit of a glass house.
Still, he's probably not wrong.
Yeah, its true. For him to say that must mean its pretty unspectacular.
I'm inclined to believe raekwon, I can't remember the last great thing rza produced.
Yeah I tend to agree. I like Raekwon a lot, just a shame that most of his decent shit is doing verses on Ghostface albums

Just this past week got into these guys. Really good.
Really enjoying Ugly Duckling today
Rappers sorted by size of vocabulary:
Looking quickly at the first chart, more words doesn't equal better rapper.
Actually correlates with illuminating adjacency with my aural preferences.
Which hiphop song samples this?
Gravel Pit - Wu Tang
New People Under the Stairs (out today!) is outstanding.
Fully sample-based record, sounds so good.

Life MC - Sounds of the Underground Album.
On first listen seems pretty solid
Not the best track off it but the only one on Youtube
Not really feeling The Roots' new one.
I've yet to try, haven't liked their last three but loved the four before that. The past three have been too slow for me vs the previous ones. Albums like rising down and phrenology had so much more energy.
Opinions on rap artists using full bands as their live shows versus just dj.
just watched Kendrick Lamar on tv and he had a full band. Whilst it was good the songs sounded no where near as good as the album. It lost all power to it, no bass etc.
thinking of artists I've seen and i think generally the nights where it was just a dj and the rapper were better.
DMX Stratford rex
jay z earls court
all were crazy and sounded brilliant.
jay z with band
nas with band
k. Lamar (tv)
were all a bit boring.
the roots were great live but their music is suited to live.
Dolly Parton with some ill shizzle:
Not an album (although there is a slightly weird soundtrack available) but the documentary about Stones Throw - Our Vinyl Weight a Ton - is very interesting, and a bit depressing.
Mos Def Marvin Gaye Pt 2 is up (for now).
Cheers for the heads up on FB kalel
No worries, although my urgency might have been unnecessary as it seems pt1 is back up again now.
It's a bit different to the first one. More B sidey if you know what I mean. Still a good listen. The one with Talib is is excellent.
Loving it so far
Somehow missed out on Akrobatik, but he's great. Love these heavy drums (Edan beat).
