At least the girl is alright but yes they are shit ads but then so is BT.

They are worse than that: they are an affront to civilization. I'm beginning to think that it would be a good idea for the public to be able to 'veto' certain adverts. Set up some sort of government body and if enough people complain to it about a particular commercial then it has to be taken off the air, forever.

The one that annoys me the most atm, is the Persil (I think?) with the one girl talking excitedly about her vintage dress, while her sarcastic friend interjects occasionally with a word or a sarcastic thumbs up.

Is the implication in that one that her friend either shat herself in her friend's dress, or stole it and did the dirty in it?

Yeah I think so. The one doing the washing (blonde ofc) is saying how she's always running out of clothes and doesn't know how the stains gets on her favourite dress and the other one mimics her in a deadpan "suspicious stains" "runs out of clothes" voice etc

She needs to see a doc, incontinence in someone that young. And a psychiatrist: strange compulsions.

The implied dress-stealer is hot, though.

The BT ads really are an affront to basic human dignity. I keep secretly hoping that there is one where the girl comes back and finds that the ginger kid has been carted off for using his super fast fibre optic broadband to amass lots of kiddie porn. And then she does about 45 minutes of naked yoga...

The 'ginger kid' was actually pretty good in Black Mirror.

Current objects of hate are that cruise advert that shows an aeroplane trail that morphs into the wake of a boat, but the wake is travelling back against the waves. That's both physically incorrect, but also implies the boat is going faster than it is.

Also that Berocca advert where the guy apparently having a Berocca day acts like a cunt and rides his cuntish bicycle on all the pedestrian only zones he can cuntishly find. Cunt.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

The Magners advert - who thought it was a good idea to use a smug tramp to sell cider.

That other cider one is getting right on my nerves. It's supposed to be like an Apple shop (BECAUSE APPLES), but is weirdly smug. At least it doesn't have some sincere folk-y act providing the music.

@Tom_Servo it is very smug. But at least it doesn't shout or (as you wisely state) use folky music to imply sincerety

It's that time of year - everyone in adverts is out partying with everyone they know on Facebook, drinking cider in sun dappled meadows, frolicking on remote sandy beaches, dancing at life-changing festivals, releasing Chinese lanterns into the starry summer night... Meanwhile we're inside sheltering from the wasps and rain watching the fucking telly.

This advert has just come on the TV as I was reading this thread. Cider adverts can fuck off. Cider can fuck off.

Don't forget the voiceover talking to you like a toddler!

I keep waiting for ad-world to fall out of love with this whole aesthetic, but it just isn't happening. If anything, whimsical vintage stuff like Instagram and Mumford & Sons have made it worse. I absolutely despise it.

You know what I think of when I think of Magners?

    Shit pubs with shit cider.

Pubs that serve proper cider are the ones where everyone's looking... grumpy as fuck. But at least they're not trendy.

@Tom_Servo I think that aesthetic comes a lot from the clients, most ad agency folk I know would be bored with a 'pub in a non existent sun' approach.

What's up with that Vosene shampoo ad? Why are two young women, a family with two young children and a random surfer dude all showering together and sharing shampoo...?

They're clearly going for very dark humour here, but this advert completely misses the point of advertising, as well as being inappropriate:

    It's unbelievable.

I know someone whose dad was killed in that manner, and to say it caused offense is a slight understatement.

Hyundai have pulled their advert, grovelling apologies etc. Incredible gaffe.
