More of that same-but-different feeling - I'm not just playing Half Life through again via muscle memory, but it's all familiar.

It's quite strange all the dialogue in it now.

I worked out my error in the end, I have to run Steam with admin privileges on. Stupid Win8 fucked the rights.

Anyway, this is excellent. The game itself has aged quite a bit and the little touches they've added are nice. All in all it's a very capable and professional mod, well worthy of the original.

    Excellent.

I understand that Source SDK Base is necessary for this, but I cannot find it on Steam. Can anyone explain how does this work?

Go to your library, click the drop down at the top of the list on the left (yours might be set to All Games) and select tools. It's in there.

Black Mesa appears on your installed list when it's done.

Any particular place that you install the actual mod?
    Nevermind , figured it out.

I just ran the BlackMesa-Setup.exe and it takes care of it for you mostly. (still installing),

Well it's been fucking amazing so far, I would've paid full price for this.

It is great, the increased wackiness/knowing wink factor means it could never stand as a replacement for the original though.

Just installed SDK Base 2007 in Steam. Where is the Black Mesa download? Cannae see it anywhere.

Anyone noticed the chuckle-brothers mugs yet? I've found two of them.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine.

I'm a little disappointed by the marines. They're not growly enough and they're a bit on the easy side.

Is there a way to change resolution to 1920 X 1080?
    A console knack perhaps?

@Apollo set aspect ratio to 16:9 and 1920 x 1080 will be available in the resolutions.

    @Tricky cheers mate!
I must say they have done a very nice job updating this game, and yet retaining the flavour of the original.

Am I right in thinking that once this is greenlit then you'll be able to just get it normally like any other game on Steam?

Well, it's sublime. The updated visuals are hit and miss I'm finding - you can really see where different people have been responsible for different sections; there's certainly an inconsistency in the quality of the various art updates overall. The legendary rail intro for eg is decent enough but rather bland, compared to the frankly sterling work put into the abandoned office spaces of later on, which impressed even more when the sprinkler system kicked in. I'm talking Valve aesthetic quality.

    Brilliant stuff.

3 Chukle Brothers mugs in so far, just got to te office complex. Loving it so far. Playing on normal thigh I wish I'd kicked it up to hard. My fps skills have certainly improved since I last played this.

Pretty excellent 'remix' so far, just working through the office complex myself :)

Best new effect is the shockwave from the sonic dogs (or whatever they're called) - loving that. The glowing green ooze leak on the tram ride was also particularly bright.

Got about halfway through the offices last night (if my memory serves) so should be getting into Surface Tension tonight I think.

Despite having played the original to death, I can't figure out how to get out of the lobby area...am on 38 health, so it is tricky enough with all those headcrab zombies around the place. Still...lovin' it...

The lobby area? Have you found the crowbar yet?

One of my favourite touches so far is that you get splattered with whatever goo/blood/semen you've just had emptied at you.

Just had a worrying crash. The sort of crash that means you can't progress any further due to a loading error.
