Registered 11 years agoI worked out my error in the end, I have to run Steam with admin privileges on. Stupid Win8 fucked the rights.
Anyway, this is excellent. The game itself has aged quite a bit and the little touches they've added are nice. All in all it's a very capable and professional mod, well worthy of the original.

Registered 11 years agoGo to your library, click the drop down at the top of the list on the left (yours might be set to All Games) and select tools. It's in there.
Black Mesa appears on your installed list when it's done.

Registered 8 years agoIt is great, the increased wackiness/knowing wink factor means it could never stand as a replacement for the original though.Even the toast is a ghost, and your daddy is in the toast!

Well, it's sublime. The updated visuals are hit and miss I'm finding - you can really see where different people have been responsible for different sections; there's certainly an inconsistency in the quality of the various art updates overall. The legendary rail intro for eg is decent enough but rather bland, compared to the frankly sterling work put into the abandoned office spaces of later on, which impressed even more when the sprinkler system kicked in. I'm talking Valve aesthetic quality.

Registered 11 years agoBest new effect is the shockwave from the sonic dogs (or whatever they're called) - loving that. The glowing green ooze leak on the tram ride was also particularly bright.
Got about halfway through the offices last night (if my memory serves) so should be getting into Surface Tension tonight I think. -
