Shit, apparantly. Just like the 360 game.

There's a Star Trek group you know with discussions on all this, with rumours and everything provided... ;)

It's just been confirmed that Eric Bana has been cast as the villan in the new Star Trek movie!

He plays the role of "Nero," who could possibly be a romulan, although that's just rumours at the moment.

What does everyone think? Personally I think it's a great choice; he's a fantastic actor and Star Trek needs a big name to help bring it back into the public eye.

    Linky.

Haha, yeah Wrath of Khan is easily the best Star Trek movie. Shame Nemesis was so bad, it was so similar to it in themes, although maybe that was it's downfall.

Yeah you do! He was in Troy, he played Hulk in the movie, he was in Munich, and he's going to be in The Time Traveller's Wife.

Im not looking foward to this at all. I hate prequels.

I want the story to advance, not go backwards, which is why I wasnt looking forward to caprica, I didnt really like Enterprise and I thought the Star Wars prequels were a waste of life.

I understand why they are doing it. The franchise needs a reboot, so they are whoring their, arguably, most popular era, but still, I would have loved to have seen a Ronald D. Moore helmed reboot set after the dominion war or something.

Fucking people and their fucking retro fads.

    DS9 ruled :).

    I'd even take a Voyager movie over a prequel..bah..

    :\

What's the use in prequels when we know everything's going to be alright anyway?

Because they will do what they did with Enterprise and make sure there's mention of the time space rift in the first 10 minutes, thus they can do what they want and just go "fire the dilitum phaster at the time vortex" and reset everything back to where it was..

With Voyager you at least knew they where going to get home eventually, but you could suspend your belief that they might not ALL get home..

I wish they'd stick money into new Sci-Fi movies, rather than relying on worn-out junkie habits like Star Trek and Star Wars. How many good new sci-fi films have there been in the past five years? A handful, tops?

So I don't suppose telling you guys that it's being written by the guys that wrote Transformers and directed by JJ Abrams will help? :)

I heard it was going to be Carson from Stargate Atlantis. Still, every film needs its comic relief, I suppose.

I'm just a glorified extra, Fred. I'm a dead man anyway. If I'm gonna die, I'd rather go out a hero than a coward.

Guy, Guy... maybe you're the plucky comic relief. You ever think about that?

Simon Pegg?! That was pretty unexpected!! I hope they don't turn his role into a complete "comic-relief" type thing, not that he was ever the most serious character to begin with.

Suppose if it brings more profile to it then I'm all for it.

    @Simon Pegg O_O

@ good recent sci-fi films: Serenity, Sunshine, Solaris.

@ best Star Trek film - I'm going to be controversial, but I'm going to say it: Generations.

I hope that it's good and the first of many. :)

I wonder if Pegg wouldn't mind doing a ST series based on the film?

I don't actually rate any of the Star Trek films that much. I have always thought that the very best episodes from the series's have always been far better than any of the films.

For instance The best of both worlds two parter kicks the crap out of first contact.
