You could still do a Prime Universe TV show
You could but no one would watch it.
I would, alot of people would, just because alot of people watch something doesn't mean its good, look at the endless stream of reality shows that get stupid ratings. A good solid Star Trek show would I think work well on a service like Netflix. TV gives Star Trek the space to explore issues in more depth than a 2 hour film can.
None of that means anything. Science fiction is expensive to produce and ratings showed that the audience at large had little to no appetite for star trek anymore, certainly not enough to finance a 20+ episode season.

Now, in fairness, the audiences receded for the TV show and the movies in conjunction with the franchise being at its lowest ebb in terms of quality, so you can never say for certain that a high quality, prime universe series wouldnt fly but there just isnt the appetite for it at the moment.

Yes but it wouldn't be your Star Trek.

As Dfawkes has said as well, that universe was drastically altered by the events of the last film as well.

No it wasnt. Spock vanished and Romulus blew up, so an old guy went missing and a marginal, B grade villain species are near extinct. Who gives a fuck about that?

B grade Villain species?! Did you ever watch star trek?

A major power in the Alpha quadrant is bought to it's knee's. The Cardies are already on their knees. The Klingons are stronger than ever and the Federatation is left trying to fix the power vacuums.

Does that sound like business as usual to you?

    BUMDER!

Where exactly did all of that happen in the last movie?

What, the part where Romulus was fucked over? That was explained when old spock meets new kirk.

The rest is from the end of DS9, the countdown comic book leading to the new film...and erm Star Trek online.

That's only in the universe Gayrub hasn't seen.

So, the only thing that happened in the film from your post was the only thing I mentioned that happened in the film? OK then.

All it means is that there will be no more tedious fucking episodes of ships flying a few lightyears into the neutral zone and back out again like a giant, gay intergalactic game of kabaddi.

They were *very* explicit that wasnt the case to avoid people like burkey firebombing paramount.

In the prime universe Vulcan is fine.

The new universe it doesn't exist.

The Romulus thing happened in the prime universe.

In both universe's a species of "Vulcan origin" is fucked over.

They said the words Parallel universe so people like Gayrub wouldn't melt.

Theres still universe A merchandise still being produced and its still very much a 'thing' but, yeah, I doubt we will ever see it on film again.
  • Deleted user 1 May 2013 15:09:28
Thinking about it, I wonder if they fucked over a species of vulcan origin in both universes for a reason?

    Nah
