Might have to start thinking about a new TV shortly, moving to somewhere with a much larger living room and two three-seater sofas rather than one two-seater. I've previously preferred LCD/LED over plasma, for no apparent reason, and now I'm pretty much open to anything.

For the price, http://www.johnlewis.com/231222456/Product.aspx looks pretty good to me? I'm not rich :)

My advice is always the same...buy a Panny Plasma! For what its worth though, I bought a 24" Panny LCD for the bedroom and its excellent. They're not cheap though.

You're doing the right thing though, go in and see what you prefer, so much is personal preference. Get them to hook up diffrreng inputs, like a Blu ray player etc too.

USB HDD, NTFS and MKV video support would also be lovely.. but for that price for a 50" TV I can't really complain if it doesn't. Guess an external bluray player or something that could do more media stuff would be called for. Want new TV now! :)

So I've just moved and need a telly. 32" to 40" and less than 350 if possible. Tell me what I should buy people, pretty please.

Fifa 09 360 (don't laugh) it happens to be a fine footy sim...also the last time Arsenal won the Prem :(
I'm 99% certain EA have turned off the servers mind you, still a lot of fun against the bots.

    pm if you fancy it.

"Duffman the grey is thrusting in the direction of the problem! Oh, yeah!"

Just wanted to bump this, as apparently the forum died over the weekend.

Oh, and Duffman, think you're looking for the charity thread ;)

May I recommend this TV from Samsung. This TV is excellent for gaming with only 16ms recorded lag.

That's the one I have my eye on (well, the 40", which is 386 at Amazon). No 3d, no stupid SMART crap, just a plain and simple good picture

Hurm, got on to RS, but won't be able to get the Samsung, only available in stores unfortunately. I have been directed towards this LG though. Seems just as decent if ever so slightly more expensive.

No idea what cheap big set to buy now - arsehole landlord withheld my bond long enough for John Lewis (and seemingly everyone else) to wipe what I was going to buy from existence.

My Panny GT30 seems to be stuck in standby mode. Anyone else experience this before?

This year's LEDs are bad enough with their clouding and uniformity at 40", never mind 75"! If it was a plasma and I was loaded I'd bite. Would probably need a crane for it though.

I'm looking for a small HDTV for my bedroom, it needs to be atleast 28" and under 300. Any recommendations? I'll mostly be gaming with my Wii, PS2 and Dreamcast on it, so it's important that it runs games smoothly and with no ghosting and other nasties.

    ( ͡ ͜ʖ ͡)

    How about this one?

... however, if you fancy a better TV for games - at 26 inches though - this is a very good choice!

Yes. The picture quality is really good. The HD Freeview Tuner is ace and movies look amazing.

Not tried much 3D yet so can't really comment on that. Apparently I can plug in a HDD and record TV so I'll be picking one up at some point.

I had a quick look at the Apps but from what I've seen they are pretty gimmicky.

I also think the sound is decent for such a slim TV. more than happy with my purchase :-)

    Snap!

I just bought this yesterday! Media functions are brilliant and inbuilt Netflix app works superbly. No more being disconnected from Fifa while the missus logs onto the 2nd xbox to watch something \o/

I've had no issue playing mkv's and some 3D content too, all streaming wonderfully over wifi (mostly 720p HD stuff. Granted my TV is right beside the router anyway so I could ethernet up if there are any issues down the road).

The Optical out is also brilliant, this TV will pass through all sound, regardless of source, to my amp which was something the previous set wouldn't do.

The "TruMotion" post processing that is applied across all inputs by default is, to put it mildly, horrific. Honestly who gets paid to come up with these awful post processing techniques?

I'm pleasantly surprised by the black levels being achieved given this was my main concern but the old TV it was replacing is a pretty old Samsung LCD so I suppose it was bound to be an improvement.

The 3D seems really cool as well but more of a novelty. I will say it seems more engaging than the cinema 3D.

What's the average corner to corner dimensions of 42" sets Inc bezel these days? Trying to work out if I can upgrade, limited space but my 37" has a quite large bezel....

I've just moved to a pretty small flat and I'm looking to replace my 32" LCD with a smaller (<26" ) LED set. Any recommendations on a good one for games?

I'm not really bothered about using it as a telly, so I guess I could get away with a monitor, but given the small space I'm dealing with I'm not too keen on a set up which needs separate speakers. That Playstation-branded 24" 3D set is quite tempting, on the petulant logic that if I've gotta have a small telly, I may as well treat myself to one with a gimmick. Is it any good?

Also, is there any point getting a 1080p display at that size?

My new one, in the post above yours, barely has a bezel. I haven't measured it corner to corner but I'd say it's not much more than a centimetre each side.

Mine is probably no more than 109-110 cm corner to corner.
