Right, bit of an update on the supcom situation.

There's shakey cam footage of an E3 presentation walk through here.

You see things such as the interface, the zoom feature and explosions. :D

Just saw the video... Oh my god the mayhem... the chaos... the destruction... and it looks good, now it's time to see how the gameplay will be with all the battles at the same time and the zooms... I hope this comes out alright and that it doesn't become another "Dungeon Siege".

yep looks good but is it goona be a big fat free for all.. i cant see much strategy in that video.. just lots of units swarming and big explosions.. i hope its not a case of build 50 of these and send em in qucik..

To be fair to them, it is probably really difficult to show strategy in lots of short clips, i think they tried to show off the game engine and some of the units as strategy is very much 'as standard' with an RTS game right?

I loved the boats which had legs so they could walk about on land, and the zoom system is fantastic, not all that original (Black and White had a similar system) but it'll be nice to play a n RTS game which doesn't have a big old mini-map in the corner filling up my screen.

From what i remember TA was the dogs bollocks when it came to strategy, rushing didn't really work because you're starting unit (commander) not only very kick-ass but also very slow and thus could easily take out a few light units when rushed.

Seeing as i don't play it anymore i'll give away one of my fave tricks - I would build a carrier aircraft asap and air lift my commander into the enemies base - the defence attacks the ship, which destroys the commander and bomb - small atomic explosion followed by the opponent spamming "OMG YOU FUCKING C**T" in the chat window. Sometimes i'd even air-lift a couple of spider-bombs in with him, if people turtled up with lots of gun turrets they'd quickly shit themselves when they realised they couldn't turn them off 'auto defence' in time and boom, chain reaction and no base left. ahh the memories.

whats the point in the small robots? in ta they were largly redundant

The Peewee's in TA were excellent.

Mid-game I liked to build dozens of them and send them in one direction in order to hide a sneaky attack of a few mega-units attacking somewhere else.

    Oh and SC vids: kerrpowsplodytastic!

If not for everything else, I'll have to buy the game for the nukes.

    oh yeah baby. awesome vid

it's a chris taylor interview, but there is much in-game chaos footage

Very cool - love the fact that there are different nukes, and a base commander who automatically rebuilds the structures after an attack.

I seem to remember an interview where thguy said that the map in that video on E:TV is something like 1/16 of their biggest map, which is pretty much a full sized continent.

Somehow I think that base commenders and the like are going to have to be essential and quick to set up. In fact everything is going to have to be very intuitive and quick when you're talking about things on that scale. The control system that Pirotic quotes on page 1 definitly seems in a set on the right direction when yu're dealing with strategy over tactics.

Damn, really cannot wait for this. Perfect excuse to spend some cash on the PC.

The whole strategic thing really appeals to me. Looking forward to some of the mods to come out for this. Cold war style soviet tanks rolling into West Germany, Red STorm Rising kinda thing.

    Woooo! New uber-robot thing unveiled!

And I thought the biggest units in the game were those giant spider bots!

I want to play this game now, damnit. Me wants to stomp puny tanks with giant stompy-robot of doom.

/Really is looking forward to supcom

** Just to add - imo the HUD looks a bit iffy, but apparently you can change it to your tastes, so you can have a minimal bar at the bottom of the screen.
