Been using PS4 for Netflix, nowtv etc. but I want to set that up in spare room so need something to do the same job. I haven’t really been paying attention and now there appears to be a ton of options. Amazing, google, Apple etc. and I always hear people talking about Rokus (spelling?). Not wanting to spend too much. Cheers

Can't find a single one in my area or near work. Anywhere else you can get this for £35?

Yeah sorry all, that link is shit. Didn't check the stock aspect. Shame, it's a quality piece of kit, hence the demand I guess.

That's all well and good mrpon, but I told my kids we'd be getting the Roku 3 and now they're devastated, currently staring at me with teary eyes.

Mine are back to the black and white portable, thanks user mrpon.

Can you imagine showing kids the tvs we had? Twisting a dial to get the channel. I remember the day the Radio Rentals man brought the tv with a remote control and teletext, the future had arrived!

:D mrpon, disappointing posters since 2006.

What about waiting till next week for the Roku Express, £30?

Can't vouch for it, obv. But I'd be intrigued. I'd be cautious if you've got shit wifi mind.

If it's just Netflix, Amazon etc you really can't go wrong with a Chromecast.

Just a warning that a Chromecast needs another device as it has no remote or menu system of it's own. Kind of annoying to some people.

I want netflix, Amazon, and nowtv plus remote for under £30. The roku 3 had it all. HAD. IT. ALL.

Amazon's Fire TV stick is decent for Prime video and Netflix. Now TV boxes are always on offer and are pretty much free.

It's highly likely that Black Friday next month will see some discounts on Amazon's Fire stuff.

Currys in Croydon near me actually has it in stock. Shame I don't need one as that's a decent deal

You can use all three of those if you don't mind your phone being your remote. Something I prefer tbh.

I picked my Chromecasts up for £25 each. Always seem to be on offer somewhere.

Has user pon redeemed himself? Will pick one up next week and find out.

Can you get Amazon instant video on a Chromecast?

Just wondering as I seem to recall they had a bit of a bust up a while back, not sure if it's resolved...

Just looking for a cheap, portable device that works with all the main services (Now TV, Netflix and Amazon)?

I thought a chromecast just took stuff you were showing on your phone, so it's really about what services you can get on your phone, although I don't think you actually need to be showing it on your phone at the same time. But it's the phone doing the authentication and the downloading.

It's fair to say I've not been keeping up with what the fuck a chromecast is since they launched, so perhaps they do more these days, I dunno.

Chromecasts have always handled the download, unless you're streaming your actual phone screen, which is a stupid way of doing it and present on almost all streaming devices now through Miracast anyway. Actual apps need to be Chromecast enabled to use it properly, and I don't think Amazon Video is.

Thanks, that was my question... So I can do it but only through mirroring the screen, rather than proper casting support. Is the screen mirroring thing decent quality?

Is there actually a device out there that just works with everything or is that asking too much?

I guess maybe a Roku device of some kind...
