Doesn't seem to be much chat on here about PSVR even though it's out in less than three weeks.

I'm probably far more excited than I should be at my age. Who's getting one?

Count me in arriving the 17th if Amazon are to be believed.

Going in blind as I've tried no demo's and haven't seen it in person but as I'm an old git and come from the c64 era I think it's going to impress me!

There is a specific VR thread that everyone seems to go to rather than one for each model - other than the Rift owners one.

There's a Vive owners one as well, so good to have a PSVR specific one as no doubt there will be lots of dispatch excitement that's best kept in here. :)

Even as a massive Rez fan I'm still considering cancelling my pre-order (just remembered I've already forked out for Move controllers and a camera too...doh!).

Just can't picture myself donning the headset that often with two young kids and a hyper-boisterous dog around - I'd lose the 'eyes in the back of my head' power-up granted to all parents, plus not sure what sort of impression it would have on them, i.e. "Dad's here...but he's not here" kind of thing, might as well be doing a Zammo and shooting up on the sofa?

That would be some Rez playthrough.

I sold my 2 pre orders for a lovely profit and I no longer have a ps4. Some games look quite good but can't shake the tech demo vibe I'm getting from it all and I think after a month people will be bored and it will gather dust.

    How much profit?
  • Deleted user 25 September 2016 17:59:17
Sold one for £600 and the other £575 so not too shabby. Both are collecting as well so no postage costs :)

To clear I'm calling resellers scum, just in case :)

I've preordered but on the fence about whether I'll keep it. Really curious but know deep down it'll be the next Eye/Move equivalent. VR may well be they future of gaming but I can't see this being more than an admirable first effort.

I cancelled my pre-order, don't think it fits with having two little kids around.

After trying it at Rezzed earlier in the year, it gave me chronic motion sickness after a couple of minutes playtime.

Had to resist the urge to pull the thing off my head, any couldn't wait for the demo to be over. Felt really unwell for about an hour after.

That has put me off VR at the moment, although very tempted to try occulus  (mainly for elite dangerous) as that's now available in retail stores.

Might just be me, but my limited experience was not a pleasant one, but would love to try it if I could overcome the motion sickness.

    @You-can-call-me-kal

I've had the Oculus Rift since July, it really is great at first but after a month I started to lose interest and went back to traditional monitor gaming.

I'm not convinced newer and better games (and the Touch controllers) will bring me back to loving it, maybe it will, but for now it's not getting much use.

Doesn't help that once you get over the wow factor of the 3D and head tracking immersion that the resolution is not great and the FOV doesn't come close to mimicking ones real life field of view (it's like you're looking through binoculars or a scuba diving mask). I knew all this before buying it and it's not a huge deal as you get used to it, but it's just worth considering.

As you say though, I think headsets as they stand now are an admirable first effort and great things are to come once they improve the visual definition and FOV.

I want to get involved but £400 before I've even brought any software is too rich for my blood.

DriveClub VR and its ilk will be the PSVR winners, as they're games with some longevity. I'd imagine Elite Dangerous and things like Project Cars soak up most of the time for people still gaming on Rift or Vive.

Monitor gaming will (I'd imagine) never die, and I still do the majority of my gaming that way, but I play decent VR games many times a week and they're fucking excellent.

I'm not sold on PS4 having the power to do it justice, but I certainly don't want it to fail. As with VR on PC, the sensible choice is to wait a few months and see how it all turns out. Is there enough support for the future? Are the manufacturing issues in the first batch? Are the launch titles overpriced wank? Etc. etc.

The canny fuckers are the ones who get into VR, of any sort, in 2018 or later. They're going to hit the sweet spot. But it does need us early adopters to make sure it gets there. :)

I will probably pick one up when retailers start the fire sales. I'm interested but the buy-in price is just too high for something that's destined for complete failure.

I imagine it'll burn down the thickets for another PSVR in a few years, clearing the road. That said I reckon it'll have one or two 'this is sooo good' experiences.

I'd love to know what they are cause I don't see many on the Rift.

The ones I enjoyed are finished and done with (Chronos, Lucky's Tale, Dead Secret), and nothing else has come out since, what has trickled through are rather poor looking indie titles the like of you see on Steam for a few quid.

    I'm in.

Rez, Battlezone, Star Wars mission, Drive Club and some other I probably haven't thought of.

If memory serves correctly then there's going to be/is a new camera and move controllers?

Edit: Got a Pro on order as well.

    Expensive few months.

I have both Rift and Vive, so rather spoilt for choice, and there has been a steady trickle coming through on both. You're as capable of looking at the storefronts as I: if there's nothing there for you, the fact I enjoyed some of it won't be much use to you! :)

As I said though - a lot of my time goes in sims and racers. Some non-VR games have had solid VR ports now as well, stuff like The Solus Project. There was that Redout just a few weeks back as well - that has full VR support also. We've done the debate to death in the other threads though - anyone expecting loads of AAA quality games each month is gonna be disappointed. You need to grub around in the muck for the gems. If you want it served on a plate, it ain't gonna happen. That's what PSVR is for. Until the software dries up, obv. :)
