Finished. Not as good as the first. Liked the dinosaur pal though.
I'm away until Sunday, so no chance to watch until then, but is it still pretty decent though? I really enjoyed the first season, but suspected it may struggle a bit going forward.

Yeah it's still good. They've went with animatronics on the dinosaur pal which works very well. It's a bit convoluted how he ends up in the story but the pay of is worth it.

I'm going to a concert tonight, will probably be wasted by the time I get back but maybe I'll sneak an episode or two in. I don't see myself getting off the couch tomorrow.

I'm so excited for the blanket media coverage of those precocious little shits from this for the next month.

Finished 4 last night. Picked right up where they left off, and are really mastering the cliffhanger :D

    I've watched the first 2.
Great for nostalgia and all and they really nail the time (which is awesome for us old codgers, probably even more if we where yanks) but there doesn't seem to be a "story" per se yet. It's mostly just a catch up of everybody with some creeping dread and the new girl dynamic breaking through. Working fine at the moment but needs to kick on a bit now.

Not surprisingly at their ages all seem to have aged a bit although Jonathan and Steve less. When you watch the "beyond stranger things" show they've got older looking even still from this so I assume it's going to be a show harder to run for many seasons with the same cast.

Really enjoyed Season 2 (bar one episode).

But now I'm really conflicted (again!) on whether they should continue with these characters or start in a fresh setting...

Watched the entire second season now.

I enjoyed it, but I share the sentiment that it's not as good as the first. Still, the tension built reliably enough throughout the season, but I did think some characters were passed the idiot ball at times. And I don't think the story threads drew together in as satisfying a way.

Not sure about some of the new characters either; they weren't bad characters as such, but they just seemed a bit unnecessary for the story. Max was a decent character, but kinda felt like all she was there was to create some tension in the group. Her step-brother was even more superfluous, like he was taking the role that Steve had in the early part of Season 1, except his story or character didn't really develop much. I did like the new Doctor, was refreshing to see one of the scientists portrayed as having some empathy.

Not sure about Eleven's 'sister' either. I thought they would have been more crucial to the story, but her and her little gang felt more like a weird tangent.

If the season was a 9/10 this would be like a 7/10.

If they continue with the same characters I fear we might end up just having more and more unanswered questions. Apparently the Duffer brothers had a 30 page document explaining the Upside Down, but so far it feels a bit intangible. Which is fine for 1 or 2 seasons, but if it keeps going on just introducing new stuff there's a danger it could get tiresome.

Just finished it, similar thoughts. Really enjoyable but a somewhat reduced impact over the first.

The story of 11 and number 8 would have been far better if inter-woven, not stand-alone. It threw the pacing and thus reduced its interesting aspects

Meanwhile, the new bully guy was good as a creep, but needed something else to give him a purpose imo.

    Still, fun stuff.

Couldnt really top the original, as that had the mystery. But it really grew and developed over the series. A lot more happens than in series one. Really enjoyed it.

Finished it tonight, that was me making the wife take it as slow as she could cope with - she'd have binged the lot at once if I let her.

Agree with the consensus that it was fun but not as good as the first. They crammed a lot of tropes into this one, and just generally a lot of plot, which left it feeling kind of rushed and under-developed. What was there was very surface level so it felt more derivative and has a load of plot holes and inauthentic character decisions in the service of moving plot pieces.

That said, it was still cool and all builds nicely to an enjoyable last couple of episodes, probably right at a 7/10.

I imagine 8 is a set up for the next season.

I'm 5 episodes in and loving it at the moment. It's started to come together a bit now. I really must watch them after slightly less beers though - they're all amalgamating into one.

@telboy007 you might want to spoiler that. I've not seen the thing myself, but that seems pretty spoilery

Finished 2 episodes, thoroughly enjoying it. The whole thing is really well put together but the MVP for me is the soundtrack. Absolutely elevates the entire show and makes the aesthetic work.

It also blows my mind that after 2 episodes, I didn't once make the connection that the kid who plays Mike is the same as Richie in It. He's a chameleon!

If Sean Astin is an adult in this does that mean the boys won't be able to go see Goonies?

Still hoping that Corey Feldman will make an appearance - the Frog Brothers would have made mincemeat of these creatures.
