    WTF!
Remedy that right now mate, get on YT and search for him by name, Soundgarden, Audioslave, TOTD.

One of THE greatest rock vocalists of all time and judging by anything I have read and seen of him a totally wonderful man.

He was the singer with Soundgarden and Audioslave, and a pretty talented one in all honesty. I can't say that I thought that either of those bands were anything other than mediocre, but RIP nevertheless.

Yeah I mean I've heard some of the songs and stuff but until today I didn't know there was a guy called Chris Cornell that everyone loved. I'm not really a rock guy to be fair though.

    Anyway carry on.

Certainly one of the most unique voices in rock music... well, ever really.

We've all fell on black days.

Most people probably would know him from the Casino Royale theme.

Was never a Soundgarden fan but really dug Audioslave at the time. Massive, superb voice. I'm quite shocked. Rest in peace, Chris.

Anyone that was remotely into grunge in the early 90s would be pretty aware of him. Him, Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain were like the three kings.

    He died.
NO news on the cause yet. Just that he is dead.

I can't imagine she's the only one... I've been in bits since I heard the news. He and his music played a huge part in my life for the past 20+ years, more than any other artist.

Black Hole Sun was probably their most mainstream song - you must've heard that?

EDIT@ Ah you said more later. Like you said, Carry on :)

Yeah, this. Although I much preferred PJ, before moving out of the grunge phase into good old Brit Pop, so missed a whole load of his stuff

I couldn't stand his music, but still sad. Memories of the common room music wars in 6th form, us Radiohead fans frisbeeing the Superunknown CD across the room so we could put on Radiohead albums and vice versa.

Fucking hell, we covered a Temple of the Dog song on Saturday evening. Devastating news, an absolute God and one of my all time favourite vocalists.

Also a perfect chance for me to say once again how good his Casino Royale theme is. Perfect Bond song in my opinion.

I've been a fan of Chris/Soundgarden for a quarter of a century, so this is really upsetting :( I feel very fortunate to have seen him with Audioslave at a concert in London.

I thought you were referring to the shite Timbaland album for a second there.

Not often I hear of a death and it stops me. Gutted. Not looking forward to when the Mrs finds out. She loved Singles, one man she would have sold her soul to be around.

    Gutted. Proper gutted.

I'm listening to Tighter & Tighter, I love the second half of DotU.

    Shadow face
    Blowing smoke and talking wind
    Lost my grip
Fell too far to start again
    A sudden snake
Found my shape and tells the world
    Remember this
    Remember everything is just black
    Or burning sun

    And I hope it's a sweat ride
    Slip tight for me
Sleep tight for me I'm gone

    Warm and sweet
    Swinging from a window ledge
    Tight and deep
One last sin before I'm dead
    A sucking holy wind
Will take me from this bed tonight
    And bloody wits
Another hits me and I have to say goodbye

    And I hope it's a sweet ride
    Here for me tonight
    Cause I feel I'm going
    Feel I'm slowing down

A good muso mate is having a breakdown on Facebook at the moment. He took Bowie pretty hard but this has seen him leave work, go home and post photos of all of his Soundgarden merch while seemingly in floods of tears.

Cornell was one of the last great rock gods, it's not hard to imagine the effect this will have on many millions of fans young and old. He was also one of the few genuine good guys in the rock world.

It was Hunger Strike, I didn't do Cornell's vocals anywhere near enough justice!

I don't know what to do with myself .....RIP Chris Cornell

I remember standing in a foot of water at the front to see him live with audiosoave at download back in the day.

His music has kept me on the straight and narrow more times than I can remember.

    so so gutted

Times of Trouble what a tune.
