Because all the Jedi were apparently killed and midichlorianism is a hereditary condition

Which is why I think (hope) the big revelation will be 'her parents are no one special' but had a heads up from....I dunno... Darth Vader that she was special.

They need to get away from the Skywalker monarchy as it's become a bit of a cliche.

No chance of that I don't think, this has been described as the end of the Skywalker saga. The next ones will be moving away from it though apparently.

"So tell me. Who's the girl?"

There's no way that question gets asked if she isn't related to someone.

Anakin was created when a bucket of midichlorians was accidentally dropped into a vat of yeast at the Dune Sea Bakery factory I believe.

Rey was grown from Luke's hand that got chopped off, found on Cloud city next to his lightsaber

The first three words that Luke says in Last Jedi are 'That's my hand!'

@beastmaster reading around, seems like that was pretty much everyone’s reaction, mine included.

Visual dictionary has been leaked now too with lots of interesting details/explanations, but nothing too spoilery.

Guess its that time of year to stop reading any star wars threads and comments to avoid spoilers. I'm off to see it after a night out on thursday, hopefully I wont be too smashed to remember anything from it.

Me and mate are booked to see on Thurs at 3:30, rather excited :)
I was looking through some old photo albums, to you young-u ask your ma/pa about them...
Anyway, load of piccies of my Star Wars collection, well I say collection I do seem to remember escaping in the Falcon from the evil Empire many a time, due in no small part to it being guarded by 4 stormtroopers at most ;)

I do miss my old Star Wars wallpaper, curtains and bedding mind you.

What’s this about Abrams coming back for episode 9 then, I thought Johnson was signed up for both

"Some serious laughs in this film"

Exactly the thing I hated about Ep. 7....

Around $230 million opening weekend :-)

From what I've read, it's a very different kind of Star Wars film. Which bodes well for his upcoming trilogy.

    Sounds alright then

Guys. @rianjohnson has made the most epic, emotionally powerful @starwars film ever. Hands down. My strong advice is to be very wary of spoilers. The less you know about #TheLastJedi, the better. Bravo, bravo, bravo.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is so very different, exciting, surprising. So many emotions, so many amazing moments. Stay away from spoilers.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is everything. Intense, funny, emotional, exciting. It’s jam-packed with absolutely jaw dropping moments and I loved it so, so much. I’m still shaking. pic.twitter.com/fHddWjo201

Luke was right: "This is not going to go the way you think." #TheLastJedi will shatter you - and then make you whole again. pic.twitter.com/PJyYpH5loP

#TheLastJedi is absolutely fantastic - gripping, touching, funny and powerful w/ gorgeous shots and the most badass battles. When it gets going, holy crap does it get going. Hands down the best #StarWars movie since Empire pic.twitter.com/nWWAhlNMJo

The Last Jedi is incredible. Character at the forefront, amazing action and so so so much emotional payoff decades in the making. I will be watching this one a lot. pic.twitter.com/KVOjLhwk27

Cannot overestimate just how gorgeous this film is. I salute you @rianjohnson - some of these shots are all-timers and then some

    — ErikDavis (@ErikDavis) December 10, 2017
There’s a scene in #StarWars #TheLastJedi that I keep playing over and over in my head, that is so stunning and unexpected that I don’t want to forget how I felt seeing it for the first time. This movie feels unlike any other Star Wars movie in all the ways I hoped. pic.twitter.com/zlDW4yOjp2

I'll have a #TheLastJedi reaction for you in about 6 or 7 years after I can finally process and unpack everything I just saw
