Probably is a thread already, but I couldn't find it.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve (who did Prisoners)

Starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.

    Filming to start next year.

Enemy is a terrific film but I can't imagine a sequel to Blade Runner working. I have a surprising tolerance for bad sci-fi if the budget is sufficient.

Is this going to be based of the K W Jeter books? I read those when I was a teenager, I can't recall if they're dump it not.

He's human skin grafted onto a metal endoskeleton.

    Arnie confirmed.

If anyone can make a decent stab at something that needn't exist, it's Villenneuve.

He's not made a film that is less than good, and in the case of Polytechnique and Enemy, close on amazing.

I just attempted to watch Enemy but gave up due to its extreme yellowness. I hope Blade Runner 2 features more colours. Saying that I'll never watch any movie that has that utter drip Ryan Gosling in it.

Didn't you give Fury Road a bad score because the colour of the sand was wrong? Maybe you need your eyes checked. ;)

It's been a long time since I read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", but if I recall correctly it categorically establishes that Deckard is human. The film made it ambiguous, and left it there whereas the book resolved the question.

I read the book just of curiosity, but to be honest, I neither liked it, nor the Blade Runner movie. Philip K. Dick is an absolute genius, but I never felt this was his best work. His short stories fare much better. He had phenominal ideas, but wasn't a strong enough writer for a novel of such length in my opinion.

Blade Runner is visually stunning but I don't quite get the love for it.

    Sequel..., meh....probably still watch it.

I rewatched the directors cut last night, really good film though sort of hard to follow at times. I never read the book. If you missed the first minute of the film and didn't see the crawl that explained the basis of the plot I don't think you'd have any idea what was happening.

I kind of have to agree. When I first watched Blade Runner, I did wonder what was all the hype about and even now I'm still not sure. It's ridiculously slow at times and it's quite easy to get muddled up during scenes.

    @Pierre2k:
Funny, it's been a while but I remember the book as being a short story?

And about Deckard being human, I think the book never really raised the question. Deckard had some doubts IIRC when he got taken in by other Blade Runners into a police precinct he had never even heard of in the same city, turns out that whole precinct was staffed by nexus models that had no idea they weren't human...Though he didn't retire them...

Though, like I said, it's been a while...

Having also hit it out of the park with Sicario, I'm even more interested in what Villeneuve will do with this.

If he brings Roger Deakins with him, it's going to at least be fucking gorgeous.
