For the first time in ages I completed a game on a home console. Batman Begins.

-yeah I liked enter the matrix too and killzone - sue me.

Really enjoyed it and the difficulty didnt ramp up. Im not a professional gamer - Im really busy these days so I appreciated the fact that I could work my way through the game without tearing my hair out.

Its a bit short but Id definitely recommend you give it a go. Its not just another movie tie-in.

I just finished Half Life 2.
I don't finish many games because they're usually bastard-hard on the last couple of stages, but this one was tricky and achievable. Thankyou Valve for actually allowing me to complete the game, get my money's-worth, and feel a sense of pride.

    Up next . . . Codenam Panzers.

You can find them all in Game. Beneath a Steel Sky is freeware now though

aye got that! can you still buy all the old monkeys though. having owned most of them at various times on ST, amiga and PC dont think i should feel too guilty about aquiring a few of them.

Sorry mate - only just got back onto the forum.

Yeah, it's okay. I like a bit of WW2 RTS action and this is good. I find it's remarkably similar to turn-based play though. Enemy AI is not too smart. For example, I'm playing as "the Hun" invading Russia. I have a force consisting of 4 tanks, 3 mobile artillery units that do HUGE damage, a couple of support units, and 6 infantry. Strategy is this: use the recon to draw out the enemy, put tank in front and artillery behind. The enemy moves forward to engage your tank, you hit theirs with artillery and the battle is won. Repair tank (using repair vehicle) and move further up the map.

I'm no veteran of RTSs but I'm playing it on standard difficulty and finding it fairly straightforward. The only tricky bit is finding all the secret missions on each level (completing secret missions gives you more respect from your superiors and therefore access to mroe units in the next mission).

Graphically it's good. And so far (about 1/3rd completed) it's been entertaining, nicely challenging in places and has caught me out once - after completing the initial objective a new objective of defending a convoy from an Allied assault from the North. Trouble is, it's not really very clear where 'north' is. So I was caught unawares when they came trundling across farmland from what seemed to be the East !

In terms of controls it's straightforward. The ability to give commands while the game is paused is a big positive to those of us who don't spend ALL our time perfecting our RTS gaming.

I'd give it a 7/10. or around 75%. Capable but may be bettered by "Soldiers: Heroes of WW2" - which I haven't played but got good reviews.

    hope that helps.

"Panzers" is a hell of a lot easier than "Soldiers" - it's worth noting.

But I still reckon "Soldiers" does the whole "mini WWII RTS" thing the best.

Also worthy of note is Blitzkrieg, which I think spawned a sequel some time ago.

Sword of the Berserk - Guts' Rage (DC).

All that talk about Dreamcast classics and me re-reading the Berserk manga made me dig out my DC again. Mmh, Guts' Rage is far shorter than I remembered it, rather primitive and suffers from bad controls, but on the whole it isn't too shabby for a licensed product. The music and cut-scenes are great though.

Sonic Adventure 1+2 have aged excellently by the way, they still look like contemporary games.

Well, the DC did actually have well designed 3d hardware unlike the Saturn :)

Techwise it's hard to argue with you about Sonic Adventure, but somewould argue that the gameplay has aged worse

The only game I've finished for a while is Sonic 1 >.< But I blame that on my PSP arriving....

Just completed Minish Cap which was magnificent. It was like a Link to the Past with a hint of Wind Waker and that's no bad thing in my book.

Also completed Another Code recently but that's not really bragging material as it only takes 5 hours! It's still aces though.

I played through Mark of Kri and Robotech: Invasion this week. That Robotech game was a surprisingly good (console) FPS with almost all gaming mechanics lifted straight from Halo but with a rather nice mechanism for locking on to large targets and then doing fine-tuning to score vital spot hits.
And it had some amusing dialogue too if you bothered speaking with the civilians.

Ninja Gaiden in 17:22. Seriously, those last two bosses were ridiculously easy. Most of my rankings were Master Ninja, highest combo I had was just over 160, 164 I think it was.

    On to Pikmin 2!

Erm, yeah, definitely! I actually didn't like it that much till I got about an hour into it, so if you do play it and don't love it straight away, don't give up on it too soon!
