It looks just like the airplane scene from CoD (4?). Not what R6 is about.

I think they've tried to make it more exciting to try and appeal to as many as possible, rather than one shot you're dead in that trailer.  I think they should have emphasised that element to be honest.

I want to get hyped about this game, it does look fantastic in so many ways. Unfortunately as I usually play online alone or at random times, playing a game where you have one life and teamwork is essential with randoms could be hell on earth.

This is just a trailer, how can you judge the game on that? The gameplay footage we've seen seems to indicate this is a proper R6 game.
  • Deleted user 25 April 2015 04:54:25
Well, quite, yet it still looks like it was being played about five times faster than you could play R6:V

The footage I saw of the closed beta looked nothing like a R6 game to me personally, unless I'm remembering Vegas completely differently.

    Your memory is fine.

The lack of a cover system makes me sad. They have codified R6.

Oh yes indeed I forgot about the cover system. Unless beta testers are rubbish and not using it :D

Edit: I just rewatched the E3 reveal and there's no cover system. Looks like they're making it more mainstream just like they did with Splinter Cell. It will sell more but longtime fans will hate it. Too bad.

That trailer is nothing like the gameplay footage that's been shown so far.

    http://youtu.be/6wlvYh0h63k

It's a much slower more strategic game with a definite emphasis on teamwork.

To be fair, if you want it back to basics, it can't really have a cover system given the first few didn't. If you want Rainbow Six as it was, that's pretty much precisely what you're getting.

From what we've seen so far, thankfully it's nothing like Call of Duty and seems to be in the spirit of Rainbow Six quite a lot. I'm not 100% sold on that though, I'd probably have preferred they'd stuck with the cover system from the later games. No point rewinding the series too far, Vegas felt like Rainbow Six updated to modern sensibilities pretty well.

I'd still have preferred something with Terrorist Hunt though. I can't remember which one introduced that, but I love terrorist hunt.

They haven't confirmed THunt but in all the coverage I have seen (and I have scanned every snippet for any sign of hope) there have been a few heavy hints that it will be in the game.

If it is, that will be the only reason I will be buying it. Even then, I will be extremely disappointed that they changed a lot of what R6 was, but heyho, UBI is run by eejits these days :(

If I was American I would sue. Some of the "gameplay" videos companies are showing these days a straight up lies. I will forever hold Gearbox in contempt for the Aliens deceit, and recently the Star Wars Battlefront stuff was almost laughable.

False advertising at the very least.

The teamwork may still be there, but I have zero interest in PVP, I played countless hours of Thunt for the co-op teamwork. That was an awesome mode.

To be fair to the Battlefront vid, it does say in the trailer 'in-game engine', and doesn't advertise itself as gameplay. I'll reserve judgement until some gameplay is shown.

True enough, the people who have played an early build say it looks good, but not the same quality as the vid.

Joe public doesn't have a clue what "in game engine" means, it's disingenuous, I dislike these videos but maybe that's just me.

I've played the alpha/beta/gamma or whatever it is on pc, and it left me cold to be honest. All a bit too quick!

R6 was never about being quick, quite the opposite in fact. Not happy hearing that.

R6 was always about thinking slow, then acting quick. I think they even used that as their core system for Vegas, didn't they? Observe, plan, assault. It's the core of the whole series, and seems to be the one big thing Siege takes to heart the most.

The main issue I've seen in footage so far was people not bothering with the first parts, but much like Evolve I reckon people will settle into doing it properly when they learn how much more efficient it is.

Actually no. Got a bit excited.

It's a code to redeem via Uplay. You can pick the planform PC, PS4 or One. I opted for PS4. Will get sent the code for download when the beta is about to start.
