    No thread for this?

The trailer on the front page looks fantastic!

It does, it's quite an old trailer now, could really do with some new news or footage, there has been virtually nothing since that trailer was released.

I do know that the dev's are urgently hiring some staff so they are probably a little bit behind *shock*

Will it be as good as IX, or VIII? That's the real question.

I went back for 40 hours around September last year. Still thought it was awesome but once again got distracted by something else.

There is this trailer with different bits of gameplay.

Xenoblade is one of those games that needs to hog your life if you're ever going to complete it. If you even consider playing something else, you're never going to see it through.

Edit - Beaten to it. Nevermind...

    Now *this* excites me.

Equally as exciting, Monolith Soft were developing an RPG on the 3DS, too. Unfortunately little has been mentioned of it, in almost a year. Hopefully it hasn't been canned. Perhaps X has become their main priority now.

I'm really looking forward to this. Xenoblade passed me by. I always though it looked incredible, but I know I'll just never have the time to play it now.

Simon's X article today got me reminiscing about the Xenosaga trilogy, one of the worst but also one of the best epic RPG sagas I've ever played.

It's a bit of a hassle to play Xenosaga in Europe because 1 and 3 never came out here, and an NTSC copy of 1 won't work with swap magic like 3 does. It's not even worth it unless you're a madman.

And I, dear friends, am a madman.

@Raiko101 I didn't even know about that, well I knew they were making something other than X but not a 3DS game.
    Do they have two teams?
  • Deleted user 9 January 2014 18:28:47
@karlo87 I think so. They might have up to 4 teams. They've helped develop a number of 3DS games already, including Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Project X Zone and the latest Zelda on 3DS, but in most cases they're just contributing efforts.

I have Xenoblade sitting on a shelf unplayed. For some reason only played 2 hours then got distracted by other games. I am guessing I need to say right only playing xenoblade and nothing else to actually get into it.

How long would it take to get into it though, that is the question.

A couple of hours I'd guess.
At first it all feels a bit 'same old same old' and the combat system appears to be ridiculous. When you get to walk around you should be getting drawn in by the incredible size of pretty much everything and as time passes you get to know and like the characters while you notice that combat gets more and more complex to the point where you are actually glad that the game was a bit handholdy at first.

It would be perfect for a relaxed gamenight, that way you will have enough time to get into the grove of the game but you will be risking Why-is-it-4am?!-syndrome.

@Sharzam It definitely takes a while to get into, but when it clicks and you're exploring you start to love it, and before you know it BAM! 100 hours of your life gone xD

There's a scene a few hours in (depending on how distracted you get by the world) that comes out of the blue and sets up the rest of the game. If you're not hooked by that, or the moment soon after (the 'Hyrule Field' moment) it will never grab you.

Just bear in mind that the game is massive. I remember when Square would boast something like Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger was "70 hours long", when they were usually closer to 30, 40 if you did *everything*. When I reached the final boss of Xenoblade, I was at around 120/130 hours...

Oh, and the soundtrack is fantastic.

I think I am at over 100 hours but only about half way in story wise. I have however completed every mission I have found and have a pretty full social link grid.

I want to play Xenoblade on Dolphin. My Wii Sensor bar doesn't have a USB connector on it. Is it a game I can get away with playing on the 360 pad?

Definitely. I've only ever played it with a Classic Controller which is pretty much the same layout. Don't think I even bothered plugging the sensor bar in to play.

This reminds me I need to get back onto the Wii version; been off it ever since I got my WiiU. I'm a bit intimidated to go back TBH.

@Daryoon Out of curiosity, which scene was that?

I think I put about 30 hours in before binning it. As great as the game looked, the combat system didn't grab me and I didn't think much of the repetitive MMORPG-style side quests.

I think he means the cutscene with the faced robot at the end of Colony 9. (Hope that is vague enough to not warrant spoiler tags but has enough info to get the drift).

As for Hyrule field moment that is the Bionis Leg. (Although amazingly Xenoblade managed that feeling 3 times with me. In fact I got disappointed when I entered a new area and did not get the neck tingly sensation).

So that trailer does look good but I hope we see some more variety in the environments if they bring out another

The music in xenoblade chronicles is a highlight for me, the day and night tunes of environments was excellent, then again i think its prob the best rpg in the last decade.
