Looking for some advice, my girlfirends laptop for some reason won't connect to her WiFi.

It was working fine last night then suddenly went to limited connectivity.

It is running windows 8.1 and after updating to that had to change the adaptor driver to Broadcomm rather than a windows or driver.

Have checked to see if anti virus software is affecting it, or the firewall and both are okay. Tried resetting the router and modem again no dice. Running windows solution is saying can't connect to gateway. Going to try it round her mums later as she has a different ISP.

It is a Lenovo laptop and the ISP is Virgin for what it is worth.

    Any ideas folks?

ISP is irrelevant, it's an issue with the laptop.

The driver change sounds like it's at fault. Track down the drivers from Lenovo and reinstall (after removing any software relating to the Wi-Fi).

    Thanks for advice.

A system recovery seems to have solved it for the moment.

Phew, that's lucky, because my next tip was going to be to hit it with a hammer.

glass of water in the air vent normally sorts it out for me.

Think I'll just switch everything off.
