Have they updated this for PSVR? I've paid no attention to this game since a few weeks after launch. Played it on the PC and ended up getting refund due to the performance issues but could be tempted back in by the idea of a VR version.

I think I'm just about done with this game. Its just a bit dull. When you find yourself firing a laser at a gold rock for 10 minutes just to make some cash, you know there is something wrong with this game.

At the end of the day, there is nothing to do. It just seems to be progress for progress' sake.

@cs96and how far did you get on with the base building?

I know what you mean though. It gets to the point where the game seems to be nothing but repetitive grinding.

Tempting to get Elite Dangerous though - as I understand it's a lot more structured and there's more to actually 'do'

I suspect you get more out of Elite if you can get involved with the community side of things. As a single player game you are just doing the same repetitive stuff over and over again. It's fun at first just because it's pretty immersive and the sense of flying a spaceship is very enjoyable but it's pretty much just 'amass money to upgrade your ship' until it occurs to you that there's bugger all interesting things to do with your ship once you get it/upgrade it.

For anyone wondering if Elite is better, it is. By quite a considerable distance it's superior in every minute detail. And I say that as a staunch critic of the game.

Better, but still boring as fuck.

Sure, but it's only as boring as you make it really. What it boils down to, look at the fucking thread we're in. If you want something that wipes the floor with everything else in the procedural game, that's the way to go. NMS is not.

I've completed all the exocraft, and that dude just keeps giving me missions to extract miniscule amounts of credits from terminals.

I have a hydroponic farm with two plants.

I think I'm in the middle of trying to craft a circuit board.

But I've come to the conclusion that the base building is pointless. All the progress you make with the base is just to make your base bigger. At the end of the day, there is no reason to have a base.

I was under the impression that you can use the base to generate more income from growing plants and extracting high value elements..?

@Flying_Pig I've only grown two plants so far, and the only use for them was to provide a material needed by one of the other people on my base.

If you want to use it as a source of income, you are going to need a lot of plants, and a lot of time.

Anymore plans to update this a bit more? I got rid after a month of it releasing but hearing okish thibgs about it now.

Have they added an actual point of getting to the centre other than to start again? Is there a point to the atlas path now? Any fellow player interaction?

So people who have played NMS recently, is this worth getting for a tenner?

@philreeduk I haven't played in a while but from all reports, there has been a shit load of content added (including a new patch I believe that's out today with 30 hours of story content apparently), for a tenner I can't see you going wrong really.

@Humperfunk Thanks! Is this the last "patch" of content they are bringing to the game? I saw mentions of a 1.4 to come. I never got caught up in the hype train, but having looked at some of the trailers for 1.3. this does look interesting now!

Tempted to get this to have a mess with now, although I think I'll wait and see what people actually think of this update first. How is performance on an OG PS4? Or am I better of paying the fiver or so extra for the PC version?

Where are you seeing it for an extra fiver?

    Still 40 on steam.

Green Man, although it's actually 15.99 so an extra 6.

Eh... normally no problem with resellers like GMG...

But noting that there's no refund policy that way, if it turns out to be shit, you're screwed.

Might buy it on Steam for 90 mins, refund it, buy it on GMG.

I never refund games just because I dont like them anyway, only if they're broken.

Plays absolutely fine on the PS4. With all of the extra content being added, you'll get plenty to do for your 10 outlay.

I bought it day 1, and have probably put about 30 hours into it. It's ultimately a very shallow experience, but a beautiful and (initially) intriguing one. The latest update should add a bit more substance to the game too.

I decided to just grab it for PC, I prefer the 360 controller to the DS4 anyway.

Intrigued by the story mode. Was waiting until there was some more "game" added before I went back to it... is this the update that does it?

    Woah. More like 2.0.

Fairly hefty download. 7 odd gig. Good sign. Looking forward to having a look later.

I'm actually wondering if I'm better off starting a new game now. My normal save is sort of aimless with loads of stuff half done and not bothered with. May be better starting from scratch.

I start a new game with each major update. Hoping survival is a bit better balanced. Want to find a lush peaceful not-psycho-sentinels world for a base.

Given the hefty changes, I'd definitely recommend starting afresh.

Trailer looked good, they can certainly still talk a good talk but will wait and see how much if any is actually substantial.
