    Yuk...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanged_and_quartered

Dragged to the execution point behind a horse, flaying your skin, then hung to the point just before death, then castrated, disemboweled, and beheaded in that order...

Then after death chopped into 4 pieces...

    Hard to imagine this really...
Guy Fawkes jumped off the hanging thing to break his neck apparently, avoiding the other stuff.
Well, with all that to 'look forward' to I think I would have too. Pretty grim.

@LetsGo He was simply there to watch the gunpowder and light the fuse when parliament opened. He got caught though.

Guy Fawkes was one of a small group of Catholics who felt that the government was treating Roman Catholics unfairly. They hoped that King James 1st would change the laws, but he didn't. So they took action.
This is also why, by tradition, Catholic families generally wouldn't do bonfires and certainly wouldn't make a Guy, but Protestant families would.

My understanding is that he didn't intend to become a suicide bomber either. Why bother setting a fuse if you intend to go up with the gunpowder? To confuse Ye CSI Westminster?

Once an eagle taught me courage. And I will never forget that day
