Will the portable option be coming back? Mobile is too bland but HD is mocking my increasingly poor eyesight :(

Just given it a quick go and it's much better now, hurrah!

    Now re-enable portable view...

    This space left intentionally blank.

This has started happening for me again (albeit to a lesser extent) with the PS4/Vita ads this week. Mobile Safari, iOS 7.0.3.

Yep. It's happening again. The PS4 add is larger than the space left for it.

The div that contains the advert at the top of the page doesn't have a default height set and gets its dimensions from the content. Since the advert loads after the rest of the page this results in the page jumping downwards right at the moment I've decided what I want to tap.

Please fix it. It's really annoying.
Jesus, I've been meaning to mention this too, for a ridiculous amounts of months.

The Div just needs a default height set and all will be well.

I (very) often end up accidentally clicking on the advert that pops into place though, rather than the "Forum" link so I wondered if the extra clicks were intentional...

    Hello!

You guys are completely correct -- the way the ad loads on mobile is annoying and wrong.

I've made some changes so that the container the advert lives in is now set to a fixed height. The upshot of that is that the layout won't shift after the advert loads, so touches won't suffer from the annoying offsetting bug. The downside is that in the (rare) case of us not having an advert to show there will be an empty space.

I hope that helps! Please shout if you spot any other oddness related to the ads on the mobile site.
I should learn to not skim read through a threads posts, huh?
Thanks for fixing, it was a small, but surprisingly irritating bug.

Are you still allowed to use that word? I thought it was in the same offensive group as mong and spastic.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

As long as you follow it with a /Div you are OK.

The fixed height DIV was giving great service... but now we've got the Wolverine, sorry WOLVERIIIINE!!!!! ad and the new ad is taller still. Thus the old taking-a-while-to-load-site-jumping-around-clicking-on-the-wrong-thing thing is happening again.

See this guy has seen the sights, been here for 12 years but knows what he likes. Portable mode.

If you build it, they will come.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

It's all a cunning plan to get us to accidentally click on advertisements. I've written to my mp about and he said it was the worst abuse of human rights he'd seen since they closed down the nandos on bramhall lane

PLEASE sort this advertising jump out (again).

You're now selling taller horizontal ads, by about 30 pixels and I'm back to accidentally clicking on the cunting things, or someone's profile, or the wrong thread again.

@mcmothercruncher yo, what ads are you seeing on mobile that are jumping around? I didn't think we had any running at the moment...

HD view craigy, not mobile. Sorry for the confusion, I was piggy backing onto the issue here rather than making a "HD thread jumps etc etc thread".

The ads on HD will always pop in and cause a redraw, as adverts of various different widths and height are displayed on the site depending on a bunch of different factors (page type, game platforms mentioned on the page, your location, etc). Not a lot we can do about that. Sorry!

You know who else used to "pop in"?

    'Doctor Death' Harold Frederick Shipman.

he used to like to pop in on his elderly patients and murder them.

    Something to think about.

I don't get the redraw mess on every other website.
